She has no army rank or military background, but she has five children, a husband and 40 families she has taken under her wing in the apartment block built into the side of a mountain in the southern part of the city, overlooking Mt. Meron and the municipal hospital. Four weeks have passed since the first rocket barrage on Safed. Four weeks since the State of Israel disappeared from sight in Block 213, just as it disappeared from Safed and the entire area from the Acre-Safed highway to the northern border."
