Israeli Leaders Still Not Sure Theyre At War By Michael Widlanski
Most wartime leaders look for 'an exit strategy,' but in the case of Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert, many Israelis are wondering if there is an "entry strategy" ...

Good Lord! An internal crisis NOW? Remember the old adage: "United we stand Divided we fall!"

A swifter victory to the war on terror depends much on a true victory by Isreal. But I sure dont want to see democracy sacrificed to achieve that goal.
To: Thud
I don't know what is up with Olmert.

"This plan was supposed to have begun with a surprise air onslaught against the Hezbollah high command in Beirut, before they would have had time to relocate to their underground bunkers. This was to have been followed immediately by large scale airborne and seaborne landing operations, in order to get several divisions on the Litani River line, enabling them to outflank Hezbollah's "Maginot line" in southern Lebanon." Even arm-chair generals were wondering why they didn't do this. Now we know: Politicians.

This makes me more mad than ever at this moron coward Olmert. Bush is trying to fight the same way in Iraq though.
To: Thud
Woah...we need a reality check check here - are they really suggesting the Israeli military might overthrow the Israeli civilian government because of the way a military operation is going (or for any other reason)?!
I have a hard time believing this... I'm not saying its false but we need to be skeptical.

A swifter victory to the war on terror depends much on a true victory by Isreal. But I sure dont want to see democracy sacrificed to achieve that goal. It won't be sacrificed to achieve that goal.... the goal of this coup was to make Arabs like Israel more.

Seems like a tinfoil hat article - except it seems to fit the facts pretty closely.

This was exactly what the IDF senior command wanted, as Israeli military doctrine, based on the Wehrmacht's blitzkrieg doctrine, has traditionally been one of rapid mobile warfare, designed to surprise and outflank an enemy. Ha ha. The blitzkrieg was a revival of the Napoleonic cavalry charge, which was itself based on the millenia-old military doctrine of "divide and conquer." Basically, you break through the enemy's lines and the result is a win.
Even the ancient Greeks understood that once your line breaks, it's over. Once a phalanx line broke, the broken side immediately surrendered, because the conclusion was foregone from there. Therefore, use a strategy that will break the enemy's lines: mass at a weak point and break through. Shock and Awe is based on the same principle, but more in terms of disrupting command and control than actually breaking a front.
Saying that it's based on blitzkrieg alone is... suspicious.

I don't believe it. The Israelis are united in this war.

The problems with dictators is that anybody who volunteers probably isn't a good choice... :)

as I said some months ago "Olmert is to Israel what Jimmy 'Peanut Brain' Carter is to America".
Israel deserves much better leadership than this wimp and he'd better shape up FAST or else!!!
I saw this coming a long time ago!
To: Thud
I'm no expert on the situation ,but isn't this push-reporting, the effort to get people to agree something possible is in fact true?
Talk about signalling to the military to overthrow the government...I'm really not sure this guy isn't just a traitor, pretending to be an 'insider'.

It is not a fight for "victory" it is instead a battle for survival. I believe that a military coup could be in America's future too ... should the moonbat left take power and then try to disarm us
