So ... did anybody bother to read the article?
Boris is having a go at the - apparently moronic - American rules for passenger transit. He loves America. But a thousand kneejerk Freepers just put their fingers in their ears.
So renouncing his U.S. citizenship is simply a metaphor? I hadn't thought of that . . . .
Yeah I read it and I stand by what I said. Screw him.
The only apparently moronic thing here is Boris. And the only thing he "loved" about America was the potential escape hatch and bennies that came with a citizenship. The rules are hardly moronic in a time of heightened need to know that people entering the U.S. are who they say they are. If someone is on record as an American citizen named Bob Smith shows up trying to enter the U.S. on a foreign passport with a foreign accent, they deserve closer scrutiny.
Ahhhh, sorry, I'd didn't take it that way. I took him at his word on what he writes. If he don't like it, fine.
what?
He loves America?
I read the article....
If he LOVED America- he would recognize that the "passport" issue is there to PROTECT AMERICA- for starters....
Also- he would not be writing a public claim of wanting a divorce form America over THIS ONE ISSUE!
LOVING America is a lot more than enjoying her freedoms- the benefits of her capitalism- and lip service.
LOVING AMERICA is being EAGER to make sacrafices for her. For her strength, growth, and her survival.
He was trying to enter the US via plane and had passport issues. I'd like to see the part in the security manual that says- "If subject has a jolly British accent, by all means, ignore all laws and procedures. Buy the chap a brew."
He is a fraud, a liar, a whiner, and a PUTZ.......
it appears that many people responding here have not read the article ... just want to throw rocks at his supposed un-american ranting, which it really isn't.
I agree with you.
