Threat Level Change for the Aviation Sector

The U.S. threat level is raised to Severe, or Red, for all commercial flights flying from the United Kingdom to the U.S.

The U.S. threat level is raised to High, or Orange for all commercial aviation operating in the U.S., including international flights. Flights from the U.S. to the U.K. are also Orange.

All travelers on commercial U.S. carriers and on all flights into the U.S., please be advised of the following changes to airport screening procedures:

NO LIQUIDS OR GELS OF ANY KIND WILL BE PERMITTED IN CARRY ON BAGGAGE. ITEMS MUST BE IN CHECKED BAGGAGE. This includes all beverages, shampoo, sun tan lotion, creams, tooth paste, hair gel, and other items of similar consistency.
Exception: Baby formula and medicines must be presented for inspection at the checkpoint.

Beverages purchased in the boarding area (beyond the checkpoint) must be consumed before boarding because they will not be permitted on board the aircraft.

Passengers traveling from the U.K. to the U.S. will be subject to a more extensive screening process.

These measures will be constantly evaluated and updated when circumstances warrant.

How every passenger can assist in security:

"Weakest link in a chain my FRiend, and the TSA has been less than optimal (to put it nicely) thanks to Norman Mineta and his politically correct horsesh*t and we all know it."

Freakin' A, there, buddy! The TSA is worthless. That's why we've had so many hijackings and downed planes since 9/11. If they were doing their jobs, we wouldn't have lost all those planes to terrorists.

Oh....wait..../sarc

Sure there are other terrorist groups. But the one that is engaging in world wide jihad happens to be al Qaeda and their kin...

That is your mistake. The MEDIA is focused on those engaged in Jihad, hence you are focused on it.

If you saw what the intelligence services see on a daily basis, you would change your mind.

To be honest I'm more concerned about people who convert to Islam who are American born.. I suppose we should put every American born muslim into concentration camps..

PS: A person could slip explosive components into an elderly citizen's handbag, completely unnoticed and very easily and then retrieve these onboard for assembly into a bomb.

Excellent point.

They probably pushed the panic button today because their surveillance caught some men shaving their bodies and going to mosque at an unusual time.

I slipped a loaded clip through TSA, by accident. If objects are at the right angle, the xray machine does not reveal contents. Maybe everything should be xrayed twice from two different angles.

PC almost killed people.
When will this country have the courage to kick out islamists and prevent anyone from heavily islamist countries from coming in?

LOL! Well, here's a clue from the always anonymous government source in the WaPo:

"This wasn't supposed to happen today," said a U.S. official who asked not to be identified. "It was supposed to happen several days from now. We hear the British lost track of one or two guys. They had to move. "

So 9/11 could have been the target date all along (those jihadis do love their anniversaries), but if the Brits "lost track" of one or two of the terrorists, the air travel mess may indicate they haven't found them yet.

I suspect most of us would be ok with grandma spotchecks as long as EVERY middle-eastern male gets checked. Sure muslims can change the MO when they need to do so, but for now we know the vast majority of our problem comes in the form of young middle-eastern men. Partial solution: thoroughly check EVERY middle-eastern male - racially profile the heck out of them.

Ahem. The TSA was created AFTER we lost all those planes to terrorists, and before you thank the TSA, just because your city fathers decide to build a fire station next door to you, that does not mean that your lack of fatal fires in the home is due to the presence of that fire station.

Think about it.

So may we conclude that you are among the privileged elite who see such data on a daily basis?

I bow to your greater data pool.

(hey wait a minute, is that pond scum I see on the top of that pool? LMAO! ok, ok, just kidding there)

Seriously, are you officially "in the loop"?

By all means enlighten us lesser mortals.

I agree. For instance, an x-ray image of the profile of a butcher knife would be easier to recognize than if that same knife was x-rayed standing on its edge in a bag full of other stuff.

The x-ray machines they have in most of the baggage areas in major airports are CAT Scan machines capable of providing a 3-D image of the bag that can be rotated in space on the screen and viewed from any angle.

Maybe these machines should be installed in the checkpoints at our Nation's busier, international airports at least.
