Question for our DC Freepers
Posted on 08/09/2006 5:50:46 PM PDT by ashamedtobefromparkridge
When exactly is the Walter Reed Freep?
When approx does it end?
and how much time afterwards would I need to get to Reagan airport>
The reason I ask is I am going to be in DC on business on Friday September 8th and would like to attend but I need to be home by Saturday morning.

You need to address to someone who is regularly there.

Approximately 9:30 pm when the dinner bus returns.
I'm figuring 45 minutes drive to the airport. But traffic conditions vary a lot in DC.
If you're travelling light, look up the Metro schedule. There are a couple of stops nearby.

Starts at 7 pm. Setup takes a bit, so you could find people there around 6:30 pm.

If you (or any other FReeper or Lurker reading this post) will be in Washington, DC on any FRiday evening, it is worth whatever sacrifice required to attend the WRAMC FReep! It is an eye-opening, heart-warming experience not to be missed.

I believe Reagan Airport stops late night large plane flights around 11 PM due to noise. I also think small planes can get out. You need to call them.
Plan with waiting time for the Metro train and changing lines, about 45 minutes from the Silver Spring/Walter Reed Area. There is always a D.C. FReeper willing to pick you up at Metro and take you back to Metro. Cabs are only a little quicker, but we've seen people have trouble getting cabs at the WR FReep. Even when they call the cab company for a cab.
As someone said, transportation depends on how much luggage you have. The luggage can be locked up in our cars while you FReep.
Then you have the airport security to get through. While the number of people will be light at Reagan, so will the security personal.
Hope this helps. Good luck in your planning and let us know if we can be of help. FReepmail us in the future.

I pass the exit to Reagan on my home. I may be able to help.

Thanks everyone!
I'll let you know when my plans are more firm.
I chose Friday to go instead of Wednesday so I could participate.
It also looks like the Saturday event is postponed so I might wind up staying overnight in DC.
I may even stay the whole weekend. My brother lives there and is putting me up. He works Friday night otherwise he'd be out there with you all. He's trying to get that weekend off so we can spend time together and he can come with me.
