Not neccessarily, the effective range of a camera flash is less than 50 feet, and it takes a high end flash to do that. However, if you use a reflective panel and the sun you can project light to any angle that is needed for perfect exposure. To do all this would require a lot of time and coordination between the photographer and the subjects.

I still remember when I first watched a photographer working an accident scene. The photogapher told the guy to stand and look at the damage and look sad. The idiot complied and that picture was on the front page the next day. I suspect this is the same type of thing going on here.

Right, it's just staged. Why would they go to the trouble of finding some people and having them look like they are near someone firing and then find a guy firing and painstakingly pasting him in? Just get a real guy firing by a crowd. There are plenty of gunmen around.

Also, there are probably ten photographers lined up taking this shot. He's probably firing at a tree.

Is that the bottom of the magazine below the strap? If so, then it is proof postive that it is faked since the part of the magazine above the strap is missing and the bottom part just floats there.

Interesting. Another peculiar thing is that the sling has two distinct dark edges. The lower diagonally oriented one could be explained as contrast of the inner part of the sling and how its looped. However, the ascending dark streak (superimposed on the right shoulder of the partially obscured kid) on the left side of the sling as it rises to the butt attachement is not so easily explained.

Where's the magazine? I see it firing but I don't see the magazine.

Could be a single shot, or bolt action...Maybe a pump...

The fauxtographer could be using another wall for protection.

*****

Nice word. I am going to use it. What real photographer stands in front of a shooter? I'm net even a member of the NRA, and I know that.

Speaking from no knowledge of photo shopping, the wall behind the civs looks sharper/clearer than the civs. Could the civs be the :added after the fact: component.

Say what? I think you have been watching too many war movies. You think in the heat of firing a guy is going to make sure his sling is wound right? Also, the casing sure looks to me like it has been ejected properly. I question what appears to be extra fingers below the mag area; but would accept somebody saying he looks like he is missing two fingers; probably shot off.

It has nothing to do with winding his sling. It has to do with the fact that the magazine well on this rifle is directly in front of the trigger, which means that, in this picture, the magazine (if there were one inserted in the magazine well) would be visible directly in front of the guy's trigger finger. But, the only things you can see there are the wrinkles of a blue shirt.

BTW, I do not base my observations on war movies. I served 13 years in the Marines and have fired this and many other weapons.

I stole it from someone else on this thread. I'm kinda like Victor Kiam in regards to words, "I liked it so much, I took it as my own!"

"Pallywood"

DEFINITION

The term "Pallywood" refers to the staging of scenes by Palestinian journalists in order to present the Palestinians as hapless victims of Israeli aggression. They are able to succeed in this endeavor in large part due to the credulity and eagerness of the Western press to present these images, which reinforce the image of the Palestinian David struggling valiantly against the overpowering Israeli Goliath. Pallywood has led to astonishing lapses in Western journalistic standards in which badly staged scenes regularly appear on the news as "real events." This page attempts to outline how such lapses could have come about, producing the current situation

Does this mean we're winning?

It appears that someone at the Editorial desk at Reuters is getting a bit jumpy. They've posted an updated copy of one of their photos to "clarify" that people in the background are not in the line of fire. Of course, we know the Palestinians would never put civilians in the line of fire, though it's pretty clear that this guy is shooting at Israeli forces, from within a group of civilians. Anyone want to bet what the international reaction would've been, had the IDF fired back and hit any of the civilians shielding this low-life?

I'm not so sure. There's not a huge amount of recoil from such rifles.

There is a lot of noise, but if the shooter has much experience with the gun, he'll be used to it and won't flinch much, and will recover quickly. It just looks to me like the picture was snapped after the action has cycled and he's back on target.

The others will flinch more because they aren't in control. They don't know when the noise is coming. The one on the right may also have hot brass flying in his direction.

Someone also suggested that the shooter is lit from directly above but the rest are lit from the upper right.

Looking at the shooter's left arm, I think he's also lit from the upper right as well.

I also don't know why they would fake a photo of a Palestinian militant firing on the IAF from among unarmed civilians.

It looks to me like the magazine is light gray with ribs on it with a black mag extender attached on the bottom.

However, even when I zoomed in, I couldn't tell for sure if it was a gray magazine or just the light blue shirt of the guy in the background.

However, if would be hard to paste in the guy and not paste in part of the magazine in the process, so I think that it's likely just a gray magazine with a black extender on the bottom.

But, the only things you can see there are the wrinkles of a blue shirt.

It looks like it could also be a gray magazine with ribs on it.

The black bottom of the magazine looks larger than it should be. It looks like a mag extender has been put on the bottom of the magazine to increase capacity.

His left hand is on a vertical fore grip.

The picture is too grainy to tell for sure about the mag. But looks to me that the two "wrinkles' on the left are part of a gray magazine. The wrinkles don't really match up with the wrinkles in the shirt that you can see below the gun, but that could just be because of the way the guy in the blue shirt is holding his arm.

Thanks! It's a good thing IDF didn't hurt any of the poor, innocent children gathered around that gunman. Who knows what kind of tizzy the United Nations would've been thrown into, would that have happened...
