Dick Morris, America's most prominent campaign strategist, tells NewsMax that the biggest victim of Joe Lieberman's stunning loss in Connecticut's Democratic primary is Hillary Rodham Clinton.
"The big loser last night was Hillary Clinton," Morris said. "She has to go through the Democratic [presidential] primaries to win and it is an increasingly hostile place for someone who voted for the war and has not recanted."
Senator Clinton has not announced a 2008 bid, but most political observers say she will run and already holds the frontrunner mantle because of her ability to raise funds and tap into her husband's political network.
But Morris says Lieberman has a good chance to win this November's general election as an independent candidate.
"Over one million people will vote in the general election and the fact that Lamont was able to get 150,000 to 200,000 left-wing Democrats to back him doesn't mean he can win in November, Morris said. He added: "Lieberman will broaden the focus of the race to include his work on the environment, climate change, homeland security, tobacco, campaign finance reform and a host of other issues."
"Lamont will increasingly emerge as the lightweight he really is," Morris concluded.
This is the reason you can take Anti-guv's and Tories GOP gloom and doom predictions as a grain of salt. They tend to follow numbers and Internal polls. According to Survey USA Lieberman was down 13% and lost by 4%. Polls mean squat.
Lamont's victory speech included the likes of Sharpton and Jackson.....nough said!
Tasini's campaign said he's been told by NY1 that he can't participate in an Aug. 22 "town hall" at Pace University meeting of U.S. Senate candidates. (TimesUnion)
Tasini is Clinton's only primary opponent and has been outspoken in his opposition to the Iraq War, which Clinton has consistently supported. By shutting Tasini out of the debate, NY1 is limiting the discussion of important viewpoints and ultimately limiting voter choice. (FAIR)
Lieberman has already gone on record stating that if he wins as an independent, he will still caucus with the Democrats.
Whoah! Since when???
Lieberman has all these battles with his conscience, but his conscience always loses.
Lannie Davis was on Fox and Friends bitterly complaining about the Liberman loss to the leftists.
This must be a really great day because open civil warfare has broken out in Ratland.
Hell, let's really sink her and give her the Medal of Freedom!
When you say "shade tobacco," do you mean big tobacco plants grown for ornament and shade?
Do tobacco plants smell? I love the way tobacco smells, especially in a pouch ready to be put into a pipe.
I think that smell is the artificial flavoring agents that are added to the tobacco.
Nope, it's a type of tobacco that is particularly prized for the wrapper layer of cigars.
Ah, I see. I didn't realize the wrapping was also tobacco. But that makes sense, since technically a smoker would be smoking the wrapper along with its contents.
Thanks!
Not so.
Joe has stated - unequivocally - that if he won as an Independent he would still caucus and VOTE with the Democrats.
In any case we don't want him -- period. He's a flaming leftist and in 2004 his ACU rating was ZERO.
BWA HAHAHA
Of course, if they had gotten Thompson to run in WI, Caputo to run in WV, Burns to step down in MT, and someone to run in ND, the GOP would be within reach of 60. Bad job by Mrs. Dole. Allen did a great job in '04.
This is the classic democrap dilemma: to get the nomination they have to run to their left, and to get the win in the general election, they have to run to their right. Hillary started running right too early...
You don't hold a mantle, Dick, you wear it. Lackeys hold it.
Oh wait...
Actually...neither! I meant a short bet "initiated" just a few days ago. After I posted that I KNEW you'd be the one to catch the ambiguity!
Cheers!
Here's a possibility I've not seen posited:
Assume in Nov:
Joe wins as Indy. Gov Rell easily sails to reelection as GOP gov. GOP retains control of congress.
Then:
Joe gets offered a job by Bush in some capacity on the war. Joe accepts (what's he leaving behind?). Rell replaces Joe with GOP senator. Said Senator has 2 years to win over the state for 2008.
The BP situation seems to me to be nearly identical to the old McDonnell Douglas years ago. Every time one of their DC-10s crashed or had a problem, MD stock crashed for a week or so, then bounced right back. Call buying/put writing a day or two or three after the incident was **always** profitable.
