Three-term Sen. Joe Lieberman trailed in early returns Tuesday, struggling to overcome a tough primary challenge and escape payback from his own party for supporting the Iraq war.
Six years after Democrats backed him for vice president, Lieberman was trailing with 44 percent, or 25,596 votes, to political novice Ned Lamont's 56 percent, or 32,840 votes, with 19 percent of precincts reporting.

It will only count as an Independent but what he was saying is he won't let the extreme left hijack the party. The funny part of this primary is that the poll last week showed Lieberman down by 13% which is more proof these polls are rigged.

The funny part of this primary is that the poll last week showed Lieberman down by 13% which is more proof these polls are rigged. But it appeared to work. Lamont got the nomination.

I'd have to agree there. I'm watching Lamont's victory speech now. Behind him are the other Sanford boys, the "Revs" Al and Jesse.
It looks like a shake-down hoe-down.

I'm lovin it!
The face of the Dem party: Lamont on stage with Al Sharpton, Rev. Jesse! and the Gay Pride Legion....first words out of his mouth are anti-war diatribe.
Please, please Dems, nominate more of these...

Can you believe the cast of characters on the stage with Lamont ? It looks like the barroom scene from Star Wars. It's only missing Sheehan, Castro, and Kim Jong-Il.
One thing, though, I'm sure that's the first time Lamont has spent more than 5 minutes standing next to a Black person who wasn't serving his dinner or shining his shoes.

Do my eyes deceive me, or did Lamont just give a Nazi salute to his nutroots compadre "Swannie" ?

Many states have "sore-loser" laws that forbid the loser of a party nomination from running in the general election as an independent. Obviously CT is not one of those states. Are there other states where a primary loser can run as an independent?

One thing's for sure ... the doofus who chased W around during the election, with the sign Billionaires for Bush is going to have to change his attitude. The dems are electing all their billionaires to the Senate. Are there enough seats in the Senate for all the left wing billionaires to occupy?

I believe that one can run as a write-in (not the same as an independent under TX law) even if he voted in a party primary. I am thinking of a local candidate who ran as a write-in who undoubtedly voted in his primary.

Correct I believe. The signatures for independents must come from non voters. Maybe that was on your mind thoughts.

Hey, great pic!
But ...
doncha think it would be more appropriate if Rachel Corrie was under the drum instead of standing behind the impeached former president and the serpent?
