I thought everyone might like to see this picture which appears in this month's Car & Driver. Chrysler jumps on the anti-American bandwagon to sell cars abroad. This is an actual picture of a billboard displayed in South Africa...touting the absence of any American influence in its Smart cars.

Members of my family drive Japanese cars that are made in America.
For some reason...VW chose not to use terne plated steel for their fuel tanks. ....Even though it was evident when they published their fuel tank restoration advice in their workshop manuals that tank cleaning was a concern, [VW] continued the practice of installing their unprotected fuel tanks into every air-cooled VW made.
Yee... spending $$$$ to build auto plants, giving jobs to tens of thousands American workers...and making great cars...
My wife said if I ever buy another POS like the Blazer S10, she'll serious walk out on me... That was the end of BUY AMERICAN!!!
If your wife said if you voted Republican, she'd leave -- would you vote for Hillary?
How about you tell her to stop complaining about your truck??
Ah... Don't worry about that, wy wife is a rabid conservative which I feel very blessed. If I'm EVEN tempted to vote for Hillary, she'd kill me herself :) to prevent such a dumb move...
I don't see any difference from the badmouthing by many "Freepers" when it comes to American made cars...Just look at any thread about Ford, GM, or Chrysler.
Wasn't trying to create domestic disharmony there. :)
They did.
South Africa is still the only place in the world where they sell the original Rabbit.
Guess they are not importing those from Westmorland anymore.
You should still tell her to stop complaining about your truck. ;)
I prefer the V-Dub ads, though I never heard of Dr. Z until moments ago and only could make it through half of one on YouTube. Kind of boring.
No, I no longer had the truck. I donated the dammed truck to Salvation Army and fell real bad about the new potential owner!!! The Blazer S10 engine blew up at 65K and the transmission soon after that... I wish the new owner offload as fast as they can.
The commercial probably has Adam Sandler's "Piece of $hit car" song playing in the background. It's explicit, so don't look it up, folks, if you're not a gutterball like me.
Correction: the song title is "Ode to My Car", but the main lyrical line is "Piece of shiite car".
South Africans will NEVER buy these cars; they are far too easy to carjack, which is a rampant, vicious problem there.
But these teensy cars are NOT anything that South Africans would be interested in; they look far too easy to carjack.
Now you're being ridiculous, not to mention stupid in the extreme. I happen to know quite a few South Africans who probably make a great deal more money, legally, at a REAL job, than you do.
That car is a copy of one that is a big seller in Paris, BTW.
