GayPatriot is reporting that the Gay Republican organization Log Cabin Republicans, which has refused to endorse President Bush's re-election, has been infiltrated by the Kedwards campaign at the top: Log Cabin GOP Political Director Unmasked As Former Edwards Campaign Operative In a major blow to the credibility of the national Log Cabin Republicans organization as a moderate voice in the Republican Party, newly discovered documents reveal that the person who manages the national Log Cabin political operation is, in fact, a long-time operative for the John Edwards Democratic Presidential campaign. According to documents faxed to me yesterday (detailed in the section below), and corroborated by multiple sources, Log Cabin Political Director Christopher Barron headed up volunteer efforts for the John Edwards for President campaign for the Washington, DC area. Barron was hired by new Executive Director Patrick Guerriero as part of his management team. According to three different sources, Barron has separately confirmed his connection to the Edwards campaign in the past.... Log Cabin's recent "non-endorsement" of President Bush based on "principle" is now also called into question. Is it possible that coordination between LCR and the Kerry-Edwards campaign intentionally engineered the "non-endorsement" as a way to suppress the votes this year of the supposed one million gay voters for Bush in 2000? Finally, the news that Log Cabin's political director may in fact be a Democrat-in-disguise raises serious questions about the true agenda and judgment of the new national Log Cabin management team. Just this week, news broke that LCR National cancelled the charter of a local chapter because that chapter endorsed a Republican! How hypocritical since that decision was defended by none other than former John Edwards operative, Christopher Barron. The most disturbing question of all in my mind is why Log Cabin has only provided lip-service protest against the "outing" campaign and not launched an all-out assult against Michael Rogers? In fact, Rogers himself has claimed repeatedly that Log Cabin board members are helping him. Is it possible that Guerriero and Barron don't care about the gay Republicans being outed at all?

>>>That's funny, I don't recall the LCR ever supporting a Democratic candidate.

That is what the Victory Funds are for.

>>>They've withheld endorsements of Republican candidates

They only endorse GAY/LESBIAN/BISEXUAL candidates.

Chafee isn't "moderate", he's an outright liberal.

Why why why do politicians keep talking about how poor they were and how they've done this and that in their families?

I've often wondered about that myself. In a country where only a small minority is actually poor under any meaningful definition of the term (inadequate food or shelter), the concept is still romanticized. You never hear anybody bragging about how easy he had it, although that is surely more worth aspiring to.

>>>These guys are socialists, not liberals

As per the Venona files, liberal is code for commie.

As per this photo and Stalin's Industrialation project, socialism is code for commie.

Any other definitions, as far as I'm concerned, is just intentional confusion.

If Rhode Island voters are so liberal, why are they voting for a Republican? Maybe the Republican is just the most conservative person they have a chance to vote for. Maybe they don't want a liberal at all but haven't been successful in dumping the Chafee family. Yet.

Hi Badray,

Personally I'm rooting for Laffey. Having Chaffee on the environment committee means poor Senator Craig only has as many votes in committee as Hillary does (9 each).

But as I was saying earlier, even Mr. Laffey (have you been to his site yet?) is no true conservative, but then again we are talking about a state as blue as Massachusetts.

I think it might be more instructive to examine Joe Lieberman as the last of the American Democrats.

Country Club, Mainstreet, Log Cabin,....You would think they would finally figure out that renaming themselves and creating spinoffs doesn't work with all of us on the Net and watching them.

Talk about old dogs and new tricks :P

No, I haven't been to his site. I did see your comment about some of his views and that isn't promising, but he still sounds like a huge improvement over Chafee.

No doubt about that.

My support of Laffey though is very clear eyed: he'd be the most conservative senator from that region but that's about it, better than Snowe/Collins/Chafee.

And it's also support that knows that winning in November would be a long shot

Since Chafee ranks lower than some Dems, it wouldn't be much of a loss no matter what happens. There's more 'up' than 'down' to be had. You just might be surprised what happens.

"libertarians" are laughable, no where on the political radar and quickly becoming a joke.

He's knocked on 30,000 doors, huh? Don't count this guy out. There is nothing that impresses voters more than to have a candidate knock on their door and ask for their vote.
