Ok is this a good or bad thing?

Darn if I know.

I'm trying to get my mind wrapped around all the dynamics and logistics of all this and it's difficult because hey, why isn't the Lebanese army in the south NOW?

See, in my narrow world view, armies tend to gather together when their country is attacked, immediately if possible.

Now I read, ladida, that the Lebanese are THINKING of sending its very own army to the south and hey, I scratch my head.

Now I understand that Lebanon is in a state of flux and from what I've read, the army is "weak".

These countries have been on this planet how many years? Yet they have terrorists picking up their trash and armies that defend nothing.

This is going to be a difficult bumpy ride to set these people right. I still think we will win, call me the optimist.

>>Lebanese Cabinet agrees to send troops to southern Lebanon if Israel withdraws and if it gets help from an international force. <<

This is nearly the nightmare scenario.

Isreal withdraws without destroying Hezzbolah's missiles. The French and Lebanese move into the South but Hezbollah fires missiles any way and Israel fires back except, now the French have agreed to defend Lebanon.

It, is not, however, the true nightmare scenario. That would be dropping in U.S. peace keeping troops.

The last civil war there involved opposing factions within the military.

Simple answer, the last civil war there.

Yet they have terrorists picking up their trash and armies that defend nothing.

FUNNY line. Sadly true.

A scroll at Haaretz says that Hezbollah agrees to the Lebanese Army deployment:

http://www.haaretz.com/

This is a disaster. Hezbollah agrees because they are the masters of Lebanon now. I smell the French and the Syrians behind this proposal.

I know Lebanonese of military age, and it is my personal assesment they they do not want to fight, and scars from the last civil war still remain, and people still cry for the loved ones lost then. The Lebanonese know the makeup of the people in that country, and they are a very divided group, having some where around 20 different religions. I feel that real unity is lacking, and that the military will not be a cohesive group, and they may not be of one mind and one accord.

I do not doubt that many Lebanese do support Hezbollah, those who still live in Lebanon.

It is hard for Christian Lebanese to be forced to unite with the Muslim Lebanonese, who have killed their loved ones in the recent past. The tears have not yet really stopped, the pain has not been forgotten.

This is BS! The Lebanese Army is riddled with Hizbollah and their sympathizers. You might as well say Hizbollah agrees to
occupy southern Lebanon.

Uh, hasn't Hezbollah said they will go away by just ''blending'' into the Lebanese army? So isn't replacing Hezbollah with the Lebanese army just replacing Hezbollah with themselves?!........I don't think this is a plan........

If it means anything (because the MSM lies) my son's friend was evacuated from Lebanon a couple of day ago. He is a Maronite Christian and he stated that the Chrisitans "hate Hezballah" and want Israel to destroy them. Of course, the MSM will never put him on the air.

I don't know about this "CNN.COM" thing but, it's about time those Lebanese sent some troops in to get control of their own friggin' country (assuming that's their intent).

My sympathies to you sir. That must be quite awful. May I suggest something to mask the smell, say, Limburger cheese?

Well the Lebanese did such a terrific job of keeping Hezbollah out of Southern Lebanon before. /s

What is unsaid is exactly which side of the battle they support. They will join Hizb in attempting to expel the Israeli forces. Guaranteed.
