I do not see that an independant win by Lieberman will help the Republicans except if there is a swing in other seats and it could help them keep overall control of the house.
In voting however unless he is very upset with the Dems over the Primary race he is still unlikely IMHO to vote with the Republicans on many issues.

You and I see the Lieberman pickle the same way snugs. Very instructional to anyone interested in what the Dems are doing.

It's unfortunate that the GOP couldn't have found a candidate who could have taken advantage of this situation.

I think Russert was the first media person brought him to promote his book. He gave 1 hour on CNBC(though rating is dismal for that program).

Russert and most of the MSM are pro-Kos... and DESPISE Lieberman. They wanna' see us evacuating our personnel from the rooftops of the Green Zone... and Lieberman is in the way.

Yup. They want the Dems to be unified.

I saw part of that interview. I thought the questioning was confrontational.

So far russert has interrupted Ms. Rice three times while she was making a significant point. How many times did he interrupt albright when she appeared ( none). russert is attempting to compare the politics of Iran with the new form of democracy in Iraq, claiming they are one and the same. Ms. Rice is educating him ...again.

While a sheer summation of numbers is one way of looking at the situation, Newt and others, who try and conceptualize the present threat, have said that our enemies engage in "Asymmetric Warfare" and follow no rules as we usually understand them. In all of WW II Germany never accomplished what bin Laden did on 911: a major attack on the American homeland.
His remarks may be premature but they serve as a wakeup call nonetheless. Get back to everyone in another decade if the situation has been solved, because it may have gotten worse by that time. In fact, by the end of it all we may have borrowed a page European history and called it the "30 Years War".
I prefer to think of it as the
"War Against the Neanderthals"

Agree, but I still see Lieberman eking out a win. I know this goes against the conventional wisdom and the polls, but I think Lieberman still has the Dem core support in CT. It should be an interesting race. No matter what happens, it is a win-win for us.

If it helps, Russert was not their friend before that interview, now they treat him as their own. (Just monitor their sites & you will know.)

Interesting tidbit:
###### FNC Sheperd Smith was recalled from the Middle East earlier than planned replacing Trace Gallagher on Jeniffer Griffin's suggestion.
I watched one of Shep's broadcasts. He was with Jeniffer. Shep had been there for over a week (IIRC), giving his rants-disguised-as-reports. Griffin, in this broadcast, was giving Shep a history lesson of the region, the elements of the conflict, the players, etc. It was obvious Shep was lacking in that knowledge.
After the Griffin history lesson, in later reporting, Shep reverted to his rants-disguised-as-reports.
[Glad to see Griffin has the influence to get Shep sent home. I also noticed that Hemmer was back in the studio late last week. I did find Hemmer's reports informative without the emotional rants Shep tended to show.]

Capitalising on THE Tragedy - Katie Couric will make her prime-time CBS News debut on September with 9/11 Special anchoring the "CBS Evening News" on Sept. 11 from ground zero.
####
Slight correction: Katy starts on Sep 5, and will anchor her Sep 11 show from Ground Zero.
Even though it is hypocritical of CBS to do this, it is a good thing. The more Americans have reminders of the World Trade Towers existence in time the better. Our BDS media have tried for the past five years to airbrush their existence from all Americans' memories.
