Reuters Doctoring Photos from Beirut? [photo inside]

OK, now things are getting weird.

This Reuters photograph shows blatant evidence of manipulation. Notice the repeating patterns in the smoke; this is almost certainly caused by using the Photoshop “clone” tool to add more smoke to the image. (Hat tip: Mike.)

It’s so incredibly obvious, it reminds me of the faked CBS memos. Smoke simply does not contain repeating symmetrical patterns like this, and you can see the repetition in both plumes of smoke. There’s really no question about it.

It may well be that the photo was doctored, so that folks would notice it, and make a mountain out of a molehill about it, and forget that Israel is murdering innocent women and children in Lebanon, and destroying precious, costly and essential infrastructure, needed to provide water, electricity, medical care, emergency services, etc. to the Lebanese.

This is a common propaganda ploy, and may have been used in the famous letter about Bush's National Guard service.

You nailed 'em!! Mystery building cloning itself, complete with ready-made smoke effects.

This is so idiotic of them, there is enough horror of war to show in both Lebanon and Israel (though of course Roto-Rooters doesn't care about the latter) without faking to exaggerate. Guess someone (maybe the photograher himself) just had to try to make it look like all of Beirut is in flames -- not enough to show reality when a quick photoshopping can "improve" upon reality.

That is a really great spot. And I like the way you point it out. I was searching for an older picture of the city too and found that picture you posted but I wasn't able to match up the buildings. Good eyes.

Associated Press. This one was taken on July 26, 2006 according to the caption. Kind of impressive how they can errect buildings so fast in a war zone, huh?

Can those reporting seeing women's faces and skulls in the picture please stop? There's a serious issue with this picture appearing to have been photoshopped to add more smoke. The evidence for the use of the clone tool is pretty obvious. If we start talking about seeing faces and skulls and devils and whatnot it devalues the very valid argument and makes us all look like kooks.

I almost feel your pain.... but, this one is so obvious and so well proven via at least three sites (Here at FR, LGF and left&right) that fun can be had w/o diminishing the 110% proof of fraud. ...

At this point so what if an army of comedians have fun with it. Perhaps that will actually improve the chance the whole thing really goes viral and therefore more will know of the fraud. Learning of evil through the side door of humor is still learning of evil.
