More and more Germans become Muslims Islam-Institute: Number of converts rising steadily

SOEST, Germany – More and more Germans are converting to Islam. Last year approximately 4,000 persons became Muslims.

According to the Central Islam-Institute in Soest, the numbers have been rising since the turn of the century. Up to the year 2000 the annual number of conversions stagnated at 300, but it has been rising ever since.

The institute’s director, Salim Abdullah, has no plausible explanation for this trend, as he told the evangelical news agency "idea." In the past, converts were chiefly women, who married Muslims, or academics with an "affection for the Orient."

No background is given such as are these "Germans" natural born or are they immigrants that became German and then converted? I don't buy that the Germans are doing this. The numbers are pretty small, too.

Exactly. And who are the 4,000? Ethnic Germans? Women who married Muslims? I am sure we have much more converting to Islam in the US every yer, event taking into account population differences.

Why not?? Public displays of Nazi ideology are verboten in The Fatherland, so become a Muslim and have those feelings not only legalized, but justified. It's the perfect vehicle for the neo Nazis.

Remembe, here in the U.S. some folks still think there was a neo nazi. Islamist connection in Oklahoma City.

No, theyve been admitting large numbers of Turks, often muslim, because Mexicans cant swim that far.

That is to say, the German population isnt growing fast enough for the tastes of government/business and the Turks are "just doing the jobs that Germans wont do".

Hm, you might want to take into account that the main cause for this is probably the immigration law that was changed around 2001...from the ius sanguinis, the blood law that only allowed children that had at least one German parent to become a German, to the ius soli, where children born in Germany have the right to choose their nationality on their 18th birthday or so. Would the statistic ask for other raligions, it had probably also noticed a considerable rise of the Judaism converts, because many of the Russland Deutschen, the people or German descent from (Now-)Russian and ex-Russian countries that were given special, easier conditions to become Germans over the last years, were Jews.

So this is probably another case of lies, damn lies and statistics.
