While most of the nation is wondering why there has been no Department of Justice action regarding the March 29 assault of a federal officer by Georgia's Democrat congresswoman Cynthia McKinney, she has demanded a retraction from the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
In a July 30 editorial, that newspaper noted that McKinney ''slugged (McKenna) with her cell phone.''
Capitol Hill police officer Paul McKenna stopped McKinney on March 29 when she tried to bypass a metal detector without wearing the pin identifying her as a member of Congress.
According to the police report, she struck the officer ''in his chest with a closed fist.''
The National Journal reported: ''McKinney pulled her arm away, swinging around, cell phone in hand and punched the officer square in his chest, according to the witnesses.''
On Capitol Hill, The Hill newspaper reported that McKinney ''struck the officer in the chest with her cell phone.''
This begs three questions:
Is the crime of assaulting an officer any less if he is struck by a clenched fist instead of a clenched cell phone?
Since the Atlanta daily was subjected to a retraction demand, why weren't the National Journal and The Hill?
Does anyone believe that McKinney will sue, in the event she so deservedly loses the early August primary election, where the polls indicate she is substantially behind? Just how much of an extremist this congresswoman is was illustrated in the Journal-Constitution's July 30 editorial, which noted McKinney,''suggested that President Bush had known in advance about the September 11 attacks, but did nothing to stop them so his friends could profit from the ensuing war.''
This contention, plus her undisputed assault of an officer, should have led the House of Representatives to vote to expel her.
But historically the House has put up with all manner of its members' misbehavior without expulsion. There is also the good possibility that a majority of the voters of McKinney's Georgia district will have the decency to vote this notorious congressional miscreant out of office.
Her attorney, J.M. Raffanf, told Cybercast News Service: ''Officer McKenna never said she hit him with a cell phone.''
And that begs the question: What evidence is there that a clutched cell phone is more damaging than a clenched fist?
And should either of these have been used by a congresswoman to assault a Capitol police officer who was doing his duty in protecting the U.S. Capitol from possible terrorists?
She was just trying to get her cell phone to change ring tones. Any other explanation reeks of racism.
Hope you are correct and this black racist is voted out of congtess.
I know it sounds crazy, but NYC was going to charge Russell Crowe with that charge before it was dropped with the out of court settlement.
No wonder she went ballistic that the facts came out. Her lawyers probably told her the potential damage to her.
"Any other explanation reeks of racism"
Heh, heh!
;^)
She is a disgrace to her race, to her district, to the House of Representatives, and to intelligent females. Actually a disgrace to illitertate females too since 99% of them wouldnt act as ignorant as this "person".
I don't think she's ever made it into that catagory. (Just a hunch. ; ) )
Yes,buckwheat!!!!!!!
But the sad truth is the grand jury gave her a walk and that is what she is standing on legally. You should here how she crows about that.
I hope she retains her seat in Congress. She is a complete embarrassment everyday to the DemonRats and I love seeing them do the Colorado Quickstep whenever she opens her mouth.
I can't understand this, when, it is commonly accepted in all legal circles, that even an average prosecuter can get a grand jury to indict a ham sandwich. I would love to see who was on this grand jury and exactly how the case was presented. This smells like a fix was in from the beginning and given to the least competent prosecutor in D.C.
Seems the lesson for the Capitol Police is that the Capitol is a lawless place, where the only justice available is the justice they hand out on the spot. Much like the streets outside.
So, the next time this sort of thing happens, the CP need to slam her face down on the ground, hit her a few times with the baton as she struggles with the cuffing, & Taze the hell out of her until she assumes a fetal position.
I'll buy the video & contribute to the officer(s) defense!
I too would like to see her stay in Congress, if she is defeated, there will still be a Democrat in her seat, and one that might actually be more effective, as well as the fact that her being there certainly ups the entertainment value.
" And this begs the question "
What would happen if Bill Frist if he were to wack a capitol police officer with fist or cell phone . The Dummacratz would go crazy , calling for his immediate execution before the dawn of the next day . But the republicans are so affraid they will be acused of racism by a REAL RACIST , they run for the tall grass . And cynthia mckinneys' life goes on as if it were normal . Shame Shame on you . . .
The majority of DC voters are black. They are racist. They are evidently stupid. They have re-elected Marion Berry on the City Council, as we type.
She is a disgrace to the human race.
I believe it would be tough picking the least competent prosecutor in DC.
There is good reason for this, to prevent members of the House from deciding who their members should be, rather than the voters deciding.
