Iran: We supplied Zelzal-2 to Hizbullah
Drudge / Jerusulem Post ^ | Aug. 4, 2006 | YAAKOV KATZ

Iran admitted for the first time on Friday that it did indeed supply long-range Zelzal-2 missiles to Hizbullah.

Secretary-general of the "Intifada conference" Mohtashami Pur told an Iranian newspaper that Iran transferred the missiles so that they could be used to defend Lebanon, Channel 1 reported.

The extent of Iran's intimate involvement in Hizbullah attacks is starting to emerge.

According to the defense establishment, the reason Hizbullah has not fired long-range Iranian-made Fajr missiles at Israel is due to Teheran's opposition. Israel now understands that without direct orders from the ayatollahs, Hizbullah is not allowed to use Iranian missiles in attacks against Israel.

The IDF also believes that it seriously damaged the long-range rocket array in the first night of air strikes almost three weeks ago and impaired Hizbullah's ability to fire the rockets.

The longer-range Zelzal missiles, manufactured by Iran and capable of reaching Tel Aviv, have also not been fired at Israel, and the IDF believes this is because it destroyed almost two-thirds of these in the Hizbullah arsenal.

I have fire ant mounds that appear in my yard from time to time. Eradicating them is a no brainer. Why doesn't that apply here?

Early on the administration used the swamp metaphor as in "we are draining the middle east swamp" ....I always thought that was a good way to put it

It seems like it wouldn't be hard to isolate Syria and Lebanon. We stand between Iran and Syria and I don't think Jordan would allow weapons shipped through there. That leaves an unlikely route through Turkey or the Mediterranean.

"...Why doesn't that apply here?"
OK. Try it one. Two hezzy lay for weeks on end in a small hole dug into the side of a forested hill, where some rock outcropings are located. The hole is covered with brush.
Every now and then they leave the hole, dragging the crude rocket launching tube out, set it up on the flat rock outcropping, set windage, elevation and pop off a few rockets, then quickly drag the rocket launcher back into the hole. Sit around, drink enough water to survive the heat, eat some goop, and rest. Repeat action the next day. Wait for some guys to hual a few more rockets up to the site next week. Repeat exercise for perhaps a few dozen similiar scenarios in other areas of those over looking ranges and down into the Bekka Valley region.

This seems like a reasonable enough scenerio, but why can't the Israelis just home on the site and destroy the missile launchers and personnel?

Well, if I know where the mound is, I spot treat it. For a wider infestation, I treat the whole yard.

A B61, fuzed for 3000ft airburst, is what Iran needs right now. They only understand strength. Well, let's show them some strength.

Yeah, well the truly unfunny part of this is how we sit by and allow Syria and Iran to dictate this war and not do a darn thing about either of them outside of launching rhetoric missles. I think they are quite immune to those.
