MARINE CORPS TO MURTHA: OH, NO, YOU DIDN'T!
Friday, August 04, 2006
Marine spokesman refutes Murtha's claim that shoot-from-the-lip Haditha claims were based on a briefing from Marine Commandant Hagee
(MONONGAHELA, August 4) -- Washington County Commissioner and Pennsylvania 12th district Republican Congressional nominee Diana Irey -- reacting to news from the Marine Corps, issued yesterday, indicating that, contrary to what Jack Murtha has said, he was briefed by Marine Commandant Michael Hagee AFTER Murtha had already publicly declared that U.S. Marines had "killed innocent civilians in cold blood" -- today released the following statement:
"Once again, Jack Murtha's memory has failed him. A spokesman for the Marine Corps yesterday declared that -- contrary to what Jack Murtha has said publicly -- Marine Commandant Michael Hagee did NOT brief Jack Murtha on what happened at Haditha before Mr. Murtha's May 17 press conference. In fact, General Hagee did not brief Jack Murtha until a full week AFTER he made his scurrilous remarks.
"When is Jack Murtha just going to take a breath, realize he was wrong, acknowledge it, and apologize to all those involved?
"This shoot-from-the-lip, ready-fire-aim style of talking has been a pattern with Jack Murtha for some time now, but this instance is particularly outrageous -- because in shooting from the lip and declaring that Marines in Haditha had 'killed innocent civilians in cold blood' before he even got a briefing on the matter, let alone before waiting for an investigation to be completed, Mr. Murtha defamed the reputations and likely destroyed the military careers of soldiers who are putting their lives on the line every day for us.
"In the larger context, of course, Mr. Murtha's statements have weakened troop morale and invited further terrorist aggression -- because the entire aim of the terrorists operating in Iraq is to drive out the American presence, and every piece of information they get demonstrating a weakening of American political resolve to see the mission through to its successful completion is a piece of information that encourages them to believe they can win on the political chess board what they cannot win on the field of battle.
"Jack Murtha was wrong when he rushed to judgment and declared that our troops had 'killed innocent civilians in cold blood' before the first Marine was charged, before the first court-martial was convened, before the first soldier was convicted. Now, it turns out, he was wrong when he said that his source of information was the Marine Commandant.
"There are 95 days left in this campaign. The good news is, that's plenty of time to make sure the voters of the 12th District know just who Jack Murtha really is."

FReepmail me if you'd like on or off the Irey/Murtha ping list.
Irey's pounding Murtha like the cheap cutlet he is.
I can't express how much I detest this EX Marine.
Grampa Dave, that's darling!
You can add me to the ping list. I just sent $25 to Irey's compaign this morning through rightroots this morning. She ought to make and sell a calendar or something. She's a nice looking lady.
Does anybody know how the polling is going in that district? I would think it's getting close.
Cute, cute , cute...
Polling? Gosh, hadn't thought about it.

No doubt she is that, but we love her for her mind and unabashed zeal for America.
I have never donated to a political campaign but I am seriously considering Diana Irey. Should I go through Rightroots or her website direct.
THanks,
Awesome! I had heard the exchange, but was not aware that Rush had indeed linked to Diana Irey's website. That's definitely a good thing!
Since you're just looking to donate to her, I'd go directly here. Rightroots does take a cut, so this way every dollar of yours will reach her campaign.
Thanks for supporting her quest to retire and redeploy EX-Marine Jack Murtha.
I have several words that come to mind. I'd use them, but then I'd (rightly so) get banned.
