Murtha is a blight on the face of our nation. If sleaze were liquefied and sold in a toothpaste tube, you'd squeeze the side and hundreds of little Murtha's would slime their way out. It's exactly like my tagline says. He needs to do this, because his conscience is killing him. He keeps thinking he can lie to himself but he can't.

Citing ongoing investigation, Marines mum
From Jamie McIntyre CNN Friday, May 19, 2006;

Rep. John Murtha, D-Pennsylvania, told reporters Wednesday (that would have been May 17th) that he got his information from U.S. commanders, who said the investigation will show that the Marines deliberately killed the civilians.

"There was no firefight. There was no IED that killed these innocent people. Our troops overreacted because of the pressure on them, and they killed innocent civilians in cold blood," Murtha said.

According to this report put out yesterday.............

But a spokesman for the Marine Corps said Hagee briefed Murtha on May 24 about Haditha. Murtha had made comments on the case as early as May 17.

If you go to Murtha's website (above) it links to actual copies of the certificates of his Purple Hearts citation and the Bronze Star with V for Valor. His wounds were allegedly inflicted by communist insurgent guerrillas on 2 separate dates (no other details). Of course he received these awards. The issue that was previously raging was whether Murtha actually served in combat and whether his "wounds" were the band-aid, self-reported incidents ala sKerry. But I am content to run on other issues and let him have this one. We can even concede that he WAS a good Congressman for the 12th district for many years, but somehow the poor thing got caught up by the Dr. Dean wing of the party and is now anti-troop, anti-USA, pro-Gay marriage, pro illegal immigration, pro tax, against social security reform, etc.

BTW I just received a nice 3 page letter from Diana Irey which is excellent. Sent to contributors. She is trying to stop Murtha from packing us up and retreating from the War on Terror. Let us help her.

I have never donated to a political campaign but I am seriously considering Diana Irey.

Other than Pres. Bush's campaigns, I'd never donated to an out-of-state candidate (I live in CA), but I sent a donation to Ms. Irey. I read somewhere that she's gotten a lot of out-of-state donations, as has Robinson, the candidate in, I think, Georgia?, with the wonderful ads.

I read somewhere that Murtha regularly visits our wounded heros at Walter Reed, and that that experience has turned him against the war. I can see how it would be heart-wrenching to see their injuries, but if he listened to them and understood their determination and courage, I can't see how he'd ever want to disgrace their sacrifice by suggesting we pull out before the job is done.
