If you go to Murtha's website (above) it links to actual copies of the certificates of his Purple Hearts citation and the Bronze Star with V for Valor. His wounds were allegedly inflicted by communist insurgent guerrillas on 2 separate dates (no other details). Of course he received these awards. The issue that was previously raging was whether Murtha actually served in combat and whether his "wounds" were the band-aid, self-reported incidents ala sKerry. But I am content to run on other issues and let him have this one. We can even concede that he WAS a good Congressman for the 12th district for many years, but somehow the poor thing got caught up by the Dr. Dean wing of the party and is now anti-troop, anti-USA, pro-Gay marriage, pro illegal immigration, pro tax, against social security reform, etc.

BTW I just received a nice 3 page letter from Diana Irey which is excellent. Sent to contributors. She is trying to stop Murtha from packing us up and retreating from the War on Terror. Let us help her.

I read somewhere that Murtha regularly visits our wounded heros at Walter Reed, and that that experience has turned him against the war. I can see how it would be heart-wrenching to see their injuries, but if he listened to them and understood their determination and courage, I can't see how he'd ever want to disgrace their sacrifice by suggesting we pull out before the job is done.
