Any question regarding cooperation between Iran and al-Qaeda should be answered by news that Iran has freed Usama bin Ladens son, Saad bin Laden, in order to get an al-Qaeda foothold from Syria and project it against Israel. The degree to which Usama bin Ladens son was freed on July 28 is directly related to the degree to which he was imprisoned. It should likely be interpreted as a deployment, not a release. According to the German Die Welt article, written by Bruno Schirra, From the Lebanese border, he has the task of building Islamist terror cells and preparing them to fight together with Hizbollah.

Divide and conquer is the best approach, I agree.
This information was probably released through Iranian channels in a misguided effort to unleash the so-called dogs of war, but in reality it is a sign of desperation that we definitely will use to our advantage.
And Assad is an Alawite who presides over a population that is 80% Sunni, yet the Shi'a fundamentalists ruling Iran didn't have any problem signing a mutual defense agreement with his Ba'athist regime.
There are no permanent allies. Only permanent interests. And eliminating Israel is Iran's first and foremost permanent interest.
Iran can't eliminate Israel without the Bomb.
Good post devolve!
I'll say it first;
Iran has Biological and Chemical WMD capabilities. Syria has Chemical WMD capabilities. Syria has hundreds of Scud C/D's that can hit Israel. Iran and Syria have signed a defense pact. We may already have MAD within the Middle East. The only defense Israel has from Syrian Scud C/D's is its missile defense system and of course its own varied WMD counter attack capabilities. Syria can right now launch its scuds and attempt to overwhelm the Israeli defenses especially if combined with an Iranian Chemical and Biological WMD missile attack. IMHO - Iran getting Nukes will only ADD to the tension.
LOL, I didn't have time to get that neon green color code for my 'run'!!
Think I'll 'run' to bed before the rest of the series.
Just ocurred to me, this was an 'Ann Coulter' free night, poor you.
But I won't be here to see it if you try posting one now!
That one would make a great monster billboard in Pennsylvania
And they can't fight a war against western civilization alone. When Iran launches against Israel, they're going to have to deal with America. They know that.
It's unreasonable to suggest Shiites and Sunnis are incapable of forging alliances in this war. They fought side-by-side against the Soviets in Afghanistan (with Americans, no less). They can certainly find common ground when it comes to Israel and the west.
Such brutal realpolitik--I am shocked, shocked.
bttt
You are missing the point entirely.
Iran is not going to do *anything* that would draw it into a shooting war with the U.S. prior to Iran obtaining the Bomb.
Nothing. Nichevo. Nada. Won't happen.
Anything on the world stage that suggests otherwise is a trick, a plot, a strategy...by someone else...someone who doesn't have Iran's best interests in mind...someone who wants a wider war today, not when Iran gets around to having the Bomb.
Likewise, the documents that we captured inside a Zarqawi safe house outlined an Al Qaeda plot to kidnap Iranians, murder them, and leave their bodies at the site of a masacre in Iraq as a trick to plant incriminating evidence that would cause the U.S. to attack Iran, thus forcing Iran into the war today, on Al Qaeda's side...making Al Qaeda stronger today with Iran fighting than yesterday when Al Qaeda was without Iran...alone.
If they want a fight, let's give it to them all. This crap has been going on my whole life and I'm sick and tired of the same sh*t over and over. Status quo has gotten US nowhere. We have a President that wants to settle things now instead of handing it over to the next, unlike Clinton. War against these fanatics is inevitable.
The bet is Osama is in Iran and has been for several years.
I'm not missing your point. You've made it endlessly for the past three weeks. Two out of every three posts of yours mention the Zarqawi letter.
I was merely responding to one particular point you made, that Al Qaeda and Iran would not work together because they're of different sects. That's the kind of bunk I expect to hear in the drive-by media, not on FR.
You took my comments out of context. I was replying to this claim: "Iran has been working with Al Qaeda all along." (see post#8)
But by taking my comment out of the above context, you've managed to make the argument that I'm claiming that Iran and Al Qaeda *can't* work together, which is not my point at all.
Instead, I've given multiple reasons such as Iran not having the Bomb yet, Iran being Persian/Shi'ia while Al Qaeda is Arab/Sunni, captured Al Qaeda documents in Iraq, etc. which all support my point that Iran hasn't worked with Al Qaeda "all along."
Can they work together when their interests align? Of course.
But have they been working together "all along?"
Not a chance.
"Here's the rub, though: those gullible reporters can't explain why Iran would want to start a shooting war with the U.S. **BEFORE** Iran gets the bomb."
