MKs Sarsur and Zkoor to Olmert: Block entrance of extremists to Temple Mount

Knesset Members Ibrahim Sarsur and Abas Zkoor (United Arab List-Ta'al) turned to Prime Minister Ehud Olmert, calling him to do everything to prevent the access of the Temple Mount Faithful movement and other groups to the Temple Mount complex on Tisha B'Av.

"We are requesting to implement a responsible and determined hand in order to prevent any danger of the access or approach of extermists, while not preventing or limiting access of Muslims in any way to pray at the mosques," they wrote. (Roee Nahmias)

I do get tired of all the coach potato generals here constantly shrieking how Israel is screwing up or losing, because they are not reacting according to the potato generals strategy or plan. There is SO MUCH MORE going on than what is reported or than what meets the eye. I trust the Israeli generals quite a bit. War is deception. As pointed out in that article, all of the news in Israel is heavenly wartime censored and produced for specific purpose. Nothing is accidental.

Likud: Olmert hasn't learned from results of unilateral pullout

The Likud party responded to Prime Minister Ehud Olmert's comments Wednesday that a victory in Lebanon would impel pullout from the West Bank, saying, "It is grievous that in the height of war, the PM can't show restrainst and plants a wedge deep in the heart of the consensus of the Israeli people, who are now united in this war."

"Apparently Olmert has not learned a thing from the destructive results of unilateral action in Lebanon and Gaza," the Likud said. (Attila Somfalvi)

Prime Minister Ehud Olmert' s declaration Wednesday that the war in Lebanon will create new momentum for further West Bank pullouts was met by a harsh response on the part of right-wing parliamentarians as well as members of the PM's own Kadima party.

"The backing Olmert received (for the war) went to his head," Knesset Member Zvi Hendel (National Union) said in response to Olmert's comments, which seemed to stun rightist Knesset members. "How many missiles and rockets need to fall on the North and South in order for Olmert to understand that state security cannot be achieved through bragging…and splitting the nation?"

The Council of Jewish Communities in Judea, Samaria and the Gaza Strip (Yesha), meanwhile, said in a statement that "the continuation of the blind rush to realignment provides terrorism with a backwind and encourages Nasrallah to continue until all his objectives are achieved. It appears Olmert is interested in breaking up the consensus around the war, while this tough time calls for finding the common denominator."

Israel Our Home Chairman Avigdor Lieberman was also quick to condemn Olmert, saying that "Just like the disengagement brought Hamas to power and led to the massive firing of Qassams on the South and the abduction of our soldiers, so would the realignment plan lead to the massive firing of thousands of missiles on central Israel communities and Jerusalem."

"Instead of wasting billions on a dubious diplomatic adventure, it's better to invest the money in rehabilitating the North and the communities that suffered immense economic damages," Lieberman said.

'War defeated realignment'

Meanwhile, members of Olmert's own Kadima party raised an eyebrow over the prime minister's timing. Party members who declined to be identified said "this is not the time to talk about realignment. First we should examine the war's results, and only then decide on our diplomatic course."

Elsewhere, National Religious Party Chairman Zevulun Orlev rejected Olmert's comments.

"Any intelligent person realizes that the war defeated realignment," Orlev said. "Olmert suffers from diplomatic blindness. It's a pity that at wartime the prime minister chooses to split the nation instead of uniting it."

Far-right activist Baruch Marzel also blasted the PM, charging that "it's about time Olmert stop thinking that he rules the world."

"The man doesn't learn from mistakes – realignment will lead to Qassam rockets on Kfar Saba and Netanya," Marzel said.

For example, I can sing pretty well, but I couldn't draw a circle if my life depended on it!

LOL - another parallel. Most of my family is talented at drawing and/or painting and I am just abysmal at it.

I still remember doing a class project to make a Christmas angel for our parents out of wine bottles and plaster of Paris, etc. Mine was so atrocious, I brought it home and hid it. Mother told me years later that she had found it one day and had immediately figured out what had happened. She found it poignant and kept the horrible thing because of that.

OOPS...I have to say I agree with all of these disenters.

It really does mean a lot to me. And I often ask God to bless abundantly all who are praying for me.

Olmert does seem to have a politically tin ear.

I'm a pretty good artist, but I can't draw a circle (and neither can a lot of artists. We use tools for that)

My hubby has a great artistic eye but crappy micromotor skills, and he never took the long years of practice it takes sometimes to develop the brain-eye coordination it can take to do drawing and such art. He's also not particularly good for mechanical aptitude.

But he's an excellent photographer and loves to do that type of thing and did it professionally for a number of years as part of his job with the FS, both in still and video work.

My stepson has a good dose of artistic ability and no desire to use it. But he did extremely well in welding (to the point where the teacher sort of decided to exempt him from the class curve and give him appropriate tasks - that much ahead of what the other guys were doing) and in other mechanical arts.

Doing pattern recognition things, even in playing games like dominos drives my dad around the bend. But I'm a wiz.

It's funny how that works, even in blood relatives.

Don't worry though, you will be singing in top form soon enough. It took him about six weeks to be fully recovered (to where his voice didn't sound like he had been smoking cigars to much).

I don't wanna have surgery on my home leave. The stupid tonsillitis will be a distant memory when I am kicking back and enjoying life stateside next month. ;-)
