Yes, Israel has many more on NASDAQ then NYSE. Probably because they are lower caps and more start ups.

I found the corresponding list of foreign companies listed at the NASDAQ, and indeed 71 of the 329 foreign companies were Israeli, making 21.6% of all foreign stocks listed on the NASDAQ Israeli. Even Canada only has 63 stocks listed.

I then went to look at just how big the Israeli market is, and apparently the TASE itself only lists just under 600 companies (all shares at the TASE are listed here and here are the TASE stocks that are dual-listed globally). From the TASE's page of dually-listed companies, it appears that the NASDAQ is the major market that TASE shares trade outside of Israel, with a few in London and the AMEX in addition to the three at the NYSE.

I knew that NASDAQ bombed in Japan, but it appears that they are working together better with the TASE. Managing to dual-list over 10% of all of the stocks traded at the TASE is certainly a far cry from the few that "NASDAQ Japan" managed to get listed before it crashed.

Great book too. :-)

Actually, I think it's deeper than that, but I can't remember the exact figure.

It is, once it goes through the filtering system.

if you are talking about the bag, its a camoflage netting to allow a soldier to blend. the shape of the head apparently is something the eye catches...so just like the sniper outfits its meant to disfigure that round shape thereby making someone harder to spot...

"so just like the sniper outfits its meant to disfigure that round shape thereby making someone harder to spot..."

Thanks. My two sisters and I were really curious as to what it was for. Now we know.

And Shimon Peres made a special trip to the White House. Looks as if Bush said, "Go get 'em."

Wouldn't it be nice if the IDF found all those Iraqi WMD's warehoused in the Bekka valley. Although, we probably know exactly where they are, what with satellite tracking...and if we didn't zero in on that long line of trucks headed into the Bekka Valley before we went into Iraq, (in the immortal words of Martha Stewart,) somebody should be fired.

But, but, buuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuut...I DID fix it, in the second posting. :-(

Don't sweat it, now you're a FR Celebrity. Like Al Baby (creator of "stune my beeber"). I really thought you meant the person should keep their mouth shut. Ambiguity is the hallmark of a great FReeperism. PWN3D!

Is that a real quote? I love it! Chesty was incredible!

YEah, I got it from a quotation site. I think he said something similar and more famous in Korea, but that one rocked.

Israel's GDP ranks it around the 50th largest in the world.

It's roughly on par with Peru.

Israel does not export a lot of natural resources like oil which tend to have a broad effect on the markets as a whole.

Israel does have a considerable number of companies listed on US Stock Exchanges, but they are not really influential on the market as a whole.

Israel may be taking actions to keep their stocks stable in the market, but they are still not of great significance in the US markets.

Israel has also adapted their economy to dealing with continuous conflict well. Despite the ongoing problems with the Palestinians and others their economy has been growing steadily.

Israel has a strong and steady economy. They are prosperous despite being surrounded by enemies and having little in the way of natural resources.

However, due to the nature of the types of industries in which they are successful, and the relatively small size of their economy, they just aren't that significant to the markets as a whole.

nopardons,

I just gotta say this. I have followed your posts for a while. You are knowledgeable and you do not suffer fools.

I respect your opinions.

So I just have to say this is the only time I have seen you a bit flustered, LOL!

Stay clam, be it in New England or Manhattan.

:-)

It might even make Russia more willing to help us on nukes in 30 days, after they see that their pal Iran is really a pussy.
Good point, although Putin is just as likely to see this as a setback and come out even more vociferously opposed to everything we do. My view is that Russia needs a new guy in charge, if you know what I mean.

I felt sorry for the Mayor who daughter was married to an American serviceman.

Once you got away from the big cities, the German people that I came into contact with were genuinely friendly and accomodating. There were always a couple of anti-American types, but they were few and far between. I dealt with them in as friendly a way as possible. I kind of disarmed them when I spoke to them in pretty decent German.

The looks on their faces were classic, as they discovered I understood everything they were saying!

Great area. Abends Bit, morgans fit.

Fond memories, translated: Evenings Bitburger Pils, Mornings Fit! Bitburger was my second favorite beer. My all-time favorite was Konigsbacher. At least once a month, I'd drive up to the brewery in Koblenz. Their restaurant served Konigsbacher bock year round, and their food was outstanding.

I can second that. I married one 37 years ago.

I lived in Berlin for four years (1983-87) and have visited Germany almost annually for 40 years, but I never had a Konigsbacher. I will have to try one. My favorite is Kolsch. My wife is from Koln.

We are looking at living in Berlin parttime.

Many thanks for the kind words. :-)

I'm clam, I'm VER clam, I assure you and though I now live in and have always preferred New England, my grandmother only used to make Manhattan...which makes sense, since she was born and bred there. :-)

Thanks for the links.

Netanyahu was instrumental in liberalizing the Israeli economy when he was PM and as Finance Minister under Sharon.

Olmert and his alliance with the labor socialists headed by Peretz may undo some of that.
