From haaretz.com:

Three IDF soldiers were killed in battles with Hezbollah fighters in Ayta a-Shab on Tuesday. Twenty-five soldiers were also lightly wounded.

IDF paratroopers have been operating in Ayta a-Shab since Monday. The IDF said Tuesday that at least 10 Hezbollah guerillas were killed in the clashes.

During the morning hours, paratroopers took positions in a number of houses and prepared to search the village. Around 11 A.M., Hezbollah men opened fire on with anti-tank weapons on two houses in which the paratroopers were situated. One soldier was killed in the first house and an officer and soldier were killed in a second house.

The other soldiers were lightly wounded by the anti-tank fire and in a series of incidents that occurred afterward.

Staff Sergeant Yonatan Einhorn, 22, of Moshav Gimzu, was identified as one of the three casualties. The other two casualties were not immediately identified.

An IDF soldier was also lightly hurt in Maroun A-Ras in southern Lebanon and was evacuated to hospital in Safed.

During the evening hours, five soldiers were lightly wounded by Hezbollah mortar fire on the northern border.

The cost to Israel is beyond measure, but at least the Israelis understand that it is a price that must be paid or the Islamofacists will sweep the world.

As always, I'm sure any of these brave men would rather die in battle than by a hezbo knife in the back, or bomb in their beds.

G-d cares for his people. Prayers for the families.

"Could the Israeli's be planning a spear thrust to link up with them? How far would that be anyway, I wonder?"

Rough guess by Google map---150 kilometers

Man these are small places!

Any talks of cease-fires are illusionary and to help settle financial market.

I doubt the conflict between Israel and Lebanon has much real effect on the financial market at this point.

Neither country is of great significance to markets. The real danger to the markets would be if Syria or Iran got involved. Iran is talking tough, but they are keeping the oil exports steadily flowing despite the rhetoric. Syria isn't even playing the rhetoric game.

There's some oil price speculation going on, but that's more about people trying to guess how other people will react rather than real concerns about supply.

The markets are much more concerned about economic indicators showing consumer spending, inflation, and what the Fed might to with interest rates.

"Do you think that that will happen, that Syria and Iran will allow the Hezzies be done in?"

I think the rest of the arab world (arab alley) will toss the hezzies under the bus. They don't want an all out war w/Israel. They will submit to rise at a later date.

Did you think that I was in favor of a cease fire?

I wish the Israelis would cease firing when the last member of Hezballah is dead. I couldn't be that lucky though.

Khe Sahn was surrounded too.
Unofficial Estimates of enemy casualties from that mouse trap span a range from 10,000 to 20,000 killed in action. I personally read reports of about 4,000.

One Lebanese officer saying the Israeli presence in the air above the ancient city was "unprecedented."

I guess he never heard about an event that took place over the Beka Valley in 1982.
