Syria was paid $30,000,000 from Saddamn to hide the WMD's. Only $30M? Seems like a pittance for Saddam....

It's just amusing to me that the most vaunted French force consists of foreign mercenaries.

Those people are all on the Mel Gibson threads, making excuses for him. Hey, nopardons. Disgusting. I stopped going to those threads, even to read the articles, they're so apologetic for an anti semite.

Just this morning the counterterrorismblog posted the following. It is now outdated as to the ground offensive (which probably means the IDF has tricked the enemy) but contains interesting info regarding the Bekaa and Baalbeck. Also, I think Baalbeck is only about 40 miles from Damascus.
The expanded ground offensive does not appear to include the Bekaa Valley, where Hezbollah and their Syrian and Iranian backers have amassed power. The Israeli Air Force, likely with the aid of special operations forces, are currently striking at targets in the Bekaa Valley, including border crossings to Syria, in an attempt to interdict Hezbollah's resupply lines. The cities of Hermel and Baalbeck, considered Hezbollah command centers, have also been the focus of IAF strikes. Source: couterterrorismblog.org

Do you think that that will happen, that Syria and Iran will allow the Hezzies be done in?

WOW! That's a pretty long journey from Israel. How in the world did they get this far without being spotted by the mediaWHORES and the bastard Hizbulloos? If the report is accurate and true, all I can say is DANG! THE EVIL TOWEL RAGS ARE GONNA GET THEIR ARSES KICKED BY THE IDF!!...
SERIES!

A hit-and-run raid? A hit on Nasrallah? A snatch-and-grab to get the kidnapped soldiers back? Not that I know anything, but my first thought was that it was your last option. In any case, praying for Israeli success. Go IDF!!
If it's a hit and run, why not wait till their home to announce it? Why announce it during the op?

If Syria gets involved, Team Israel may include Team USA. After all, if there are WMDs in the Bekaa, we had dibs on them first!I really think this could be the case.....probably what Condi told Israel.

The Iranians are also surrounded by US forces and US bases in Iraq, Afghanistan, the Persian Gulf, and the Indian Ocean. Interesting times.

At the top of my list will be gas!
My thoughts and prayers go with these Israeli troops. And here's hoping that whatever happens (hezis, Syria, Iran) that the Israels (and us?) will be victorious.
One nice thing - we don't have to worry about Saddam sending SCUD missiles into israel anymore.

Sorry, I wasn't clear - I mean contain the operation, not the war. The idea is to cut the Bekaa valley off from Hezbollah retreat from the south as well as to clean out the locality. This is precisely what Israel needs to do in order to prevent the usual terrorists finding a safe haven. (That is, in part, what we accomplished in Iraq).
As for Iran, they're going to rage and roar but they're going to have a difficult time moving men and materiel into the war zone. That's also one thing we accomplished in Iraq. That, in essence, is containing the war. Of course, if Iran does decide to attempt to move conventional forces toward Syria, that's a long, lonely, and exposed road and we own the air. I suspect they'll move some Revolutionary Guard covertly, too little and too late. Could be wrong - we'll see.
