Diana Irey Visits Walter Reed Hospital
By: O. P. Ditch, Col USAF (ret) Vets4Irey.com
We met her at a McDonalds near the Hospital - what a down to earth Lady. Can you imagine the "cut & runner" doing that? Well, it was a brief introduction, I hadn't had the pleasure of meeting her to that point. But I was most impressed with her genuineness, pleasant personality and intelligence. She is very easy to talk to and she was very interested in our ideas for helping with her campaign. So don't be shy with your recommendations, she's a good listener. After a quick "lunch" - she had a chocolate milk shake - we headed off to Walter Reed at about 3 PM.
She entered the compound in my car because I had the Military ID. After the usual temporary pass event at the gate, we went straight to the Mologne House. This is the outpatient residence located on the Hospital Grounds. This is where Diana met with soldiers, and some families, who had expressed an interest in meeting her. She also met casually, in the break area patio, with other soldiers who didn't know who she was or what she was up to. I'm estimating she met at least 20-25 soldiers.
I personally didn't hear all of her conversations with the soldiers, but those that I did hear were impressive. She listened to their comments and frequently asked how they felt about having served in Iraq. To the man, they were all proud to have served in Iraq, and most of them expressed a desire to go back when they were healed. One soldier commented about how the children of Iraq were his best memories of his tour there and the children would remember the US as liberators. Those who knew who Diana was running against were very adamant about their support for her. Many expressed their appreciation to her for running against an entrenched incumbent who had not been supportive of the troops by his actions and comments. A frequent topic that she brought up was what they were going to do with the rest of their lives. Many talked about potential jobs, some mentioned security or teaching, and several indicated they would be going back to school. One guy wanted to play a lot of golf, even though he was walking with a cane due to some leg injuries. Later I learned that the troops were very impressed with Diana. "They could not believe she actually cared about their thoughts and feelings. They were all thrilled at the opportunity to meet and visit with her" one person said.
After spending about 4 hours inside with the wounded soldiers, including a snack bar dinner, we made our way outside to the area where FReeRepublic.com "FReepers" assemble every Friday night to counter the Code Pink demonstrators.
Diana's first action was to give the anti-war Code Pink a piece of her mind. Sorry I missed that because I was parking my car. She said she told Code Pink what the soldiers had told her. "That the soldiers were very proud of their service in Iraq and many wanted to go back." "They are our real heros" she said. Diana made a point to go around to greet all the "FReepers" and to thank them for being there supporting the troops. After many hand shakes and a few hugs, she picked up a "Support our Troops" sign and stood on the corner with them for over an hour, encouraging many honking car horns. We are going to have to induct her as an "honorary FReeper." I'm sure she lurks there already however.
She left the area around 8 PM, for the long 5 hour drive back to Pennsylvania. She had an early morning event to attend on Saturday morning. Can you imagine "cut & run Jack" doing this? NO WAY.

Guts, a spine, and GREAT LOOKS!
I have donated to her campaign and encourage other Freepers to do so.
Just imagine unseating Murtha! Would the MSM be crying in their lattes?
You can say that again.
So diminutive in stature yet a giant in terms of class, brains, and patriotism.
I am smitten with Diana and freely admit it.
Thanks, you are right....in....the middle!
She most certainly gained additional supporters last Friday!
I sure hope she wins. maybe if she had a couple of phony purple hearts and a silver star, that would help. It works for other phony politicians that will remain un named. Murtha:. oops that slipped out. Kerry: oops again.
Thanks for your report on this and all your hard work. The more I see and read about Mrs. Irey, the more impressed I am. I have no doubt that she will retire Murtha.
Great pics, great post. She certainly is lovely looking, in addition to all of her other good qualities.

Wow....
I hope the visit becomes know in PA.

| Murtha's "Cut & Run" Comments on Iraq: "there's no progress at all" "it's worse than it was prewar" "we should immediatley redeploy" "War cannot be won on the ground" "I have said it's a civil war" "We cannot win this militarily. Our tactics themselves keep us from winning," |
Murtha's Comments on our Troops: "Would you join (the military) today?," he was asked in an interview. "No," replied Murtha "And I think you're saying the average guy out there who's considering recruitment is justified in saying 'I don't want to serve'," the interviewer continued. "Exactly right," said Murtha "we have become a catalyst for violence" in Iraq Marines "killed innocent civilians in cold blood." at Haditha "I will not excuse murder, and this is what happened" "This is worse than Abu Ghraib" "Hopefully, this is an isolated incident. But we're supposed to be selling ideas of America, ideals of America, and we're losing that war." "These kind of things have to be brought out immediately," he told "This Week," "because if the Marines got away with it, other Marines might think it's okay." "What they're saying to me is we're stretching the military too thin. The army is broken, and we couldn't deploy to a second front if we wanted to." "The troops don't know what to do. They don't have the direction they need in order to supervise the prisoners," |

Thanks for the update! I pray that she sends this POS from her District packing!
Ahhhhh, but you see...Mrs. Irey is no phony, therefore no need for phony medals and awards.
Her good qualities keep adding up! I made her promise not to let the "insiders" ruin her once she is on Capitol Hill.
