"Everyone in southern Lebanon is a terrorist and is connected to Hezbollah," roared Israeli Justice Minister Haim Ramon on July 27.
"Every village from which a Katyusha is fired must be destroyed," bellowed an Israeli general in a quote bannered by the nation's largest newspaper, Yedioth Ahronoth.
The Israeli paper then summarized what the justice minister and general were saying: "In other words, a village from which rockets are fired at Israel will simply be destroyed by fire." That was Thursday.
Sunday, in Qana, 57 of Haim Ramon's "terrorists," 37 of them children, were massacred with precision-guided bombs. Apparently, Katyushas had been fired from Qana, near the destroyed building.
"One who goes to sleep with rockets shouldn't be surprised if he doesn't wake up in the morning," said Israel's ambassador to the United Nations, Dan Gillerman.
Today, we hear unctuous statements about how Israel takes pains to avoid civilian casualties, drops leaflets to warn civilians to flee target areas, and conforms to all the rules of civilized warfare.
But Israel's words and deeds contradict her propaganda. As the war began, Ehud Olmert accused Lebanon, which had condemned Hezbollah for the killing and capture of the Israeli soldiers, of an "act of war." Army Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Dan Halutz publicly threatened "to turn back the clock in Lebanon by 20 years."
Gillerman, at a pro-Israel rally in New York, thundered, "[T]o those countries who claim that we are using disproportionate force, I have only this to say: You're damn right we are."
"His comments drew wild applause," said the Jerusalem Post.

Great weather images! Just where was this wall cloud?
Tell Pat to go make this pro-Hizbollah argument to the 241 Marine families that we have yet to pay back in kind. Pat just keeps giving the lefties a portrait they can use to label us all as Right-wing ideologues. This should get plenty of traction as a campaign tool for the Dems to use in the Jewish community. We should let Israel round up all of the Hezbos, place them in shackles at the site of the Marine barracks and MOAB their arses.
Any wonder he's portrayed as a "leading Conservative" by the media :
I'm applauding!
You may be right.

Did Pat order a Vodka Gibson?
The libs seem to think that they are so much smarter than the rest of us dumb right-wingers that they can actually pass this crap off as "journalism". Seems like Goebbels would be proud of these useful idiots. The Koraniacs are the brightest bulbs in the room but even they have outsmarted the elitest libs and their Ivy League educations. They have become tools for Islamonazis to spread the condemnation for the New West (US, Israel, UK, & Australia since no one else seems to have any cajones anymore). Anti-Semitic jackasses.
I don't know where it was taken. I found the pic at the FR home page of FR friend Dark Skies.
At least Gibson has to get drunk to talk like that...Pat does it for national consumption...
Poor old Pat has really dove off into the deep end of an empty pool!

Your comment is closest to the bullseye. Pat's a Pre-Vatican II Catholic (so is Gibson). He was indoctrinated iin the 1940's to have a harsh view of Jews- but never changed.
They're sort of like guys who think the Pope is the anti-Christ. Reason is out the window.
CNN has a long history of doing the same thing; the conservatives/Republicans they hired for "balance" were invariably staunchly anti-Israel -- Rowland Evans, Bob Novak, and Buchanan. So CNN's anti-Israel liberals were "balanced" by a few anti-Israel conservatives. Hiring a pro-Israel pundit of any political persuassion was simply out of the question.
The MSM delights in portraying Buchanan as a "conservative". After all, what better way could they possibly find to make conservatives look bad?
I don't understand why Buchanan's screeds even get posted on FR. It's not like we need more proof that he's lost it.
I'm giving Pat the benefit of the doubt because his "facts" don't equal his rhetoric. The idea that a sovereign state goes to war to defend its citizens today and tomorrow must not take sound military strategy into account is unsound.
As is much of Pat's isolationism. He is espousing it even with no credible outcome.
Viva Israel! Viva Cuba Libre!
I see plenty of hate on this thread, but not in the article at the top.
I remember Catholic school in the early '50's, with the French-Canadian nuns spewing, "Les juifs sont le diable"! Fortunately, my parents were very tolerant.
In fact, our family doctor was Jewish, and he saved my brother's life (ruptured appendix). Sadly, we had family members who were very critical that we thought so highly of Dr. Rosenblum.
I've known and worked with, and for, many people of the Jewish faith, and I've found them to be kind, honest and fair.
I'm praying to understand why God's chosen people are so hated and maligned.
Buchanan really needs to stay abreast of the news before he starts spouting off. It looks as though Hezbollah might have destroyed the building in Qana that had been shelled by the Israelis. After all, the building stood for eight hours after being hit by Israeli fire. Moreover, only 37 dead have been confirmed, not the 57 Buchanan cites. In fact, this whole Qana episode is starting to look like something that Hezbollah has staged. But Buchanan is too busy ranting and raving to pay attention to what is actually going on.
Gillerman, at a pro-Israel rally in New York, thundered, "[T]o those countries who claim that we are using disproportionate force, I have only this to say: You're damn right we are."
Thumbs up from me.
