Brown (D) 44%, DeWine (R) 42%

RR and I have BOTH talked about Gerbil Village and the Short North for a while now.
The terms and descriptions were first said by me. I lived in and around Columbus for 7 of the last 8 years.
It was answered below, but yeah it was a manufacturing town and that still has quite a bit of influence.
I haven't been in the area long enough to fully diagnose it.
Springfield has much of the same issue, but it's a bit more dislocated from it's manufacturing past now.
maybe....
Hope you are right.
yeah...
I can tell you that Blackwell won't win Franklin, but he will probably win all of the surrounding counties handily.
I think DeWhiner is far enough away from Brown (non-FReeper perception) to pull most GOP votes and far enough away from the Right to pull most moderate votes.
I think the primary played that out.
The terms and descriptions were first said by me. I lived in and around Columbus for 7 of the last 8 years.
So RR is just repeating what you said?
maybe RR should respond for him/her self?
It's pretty common knowledge. I've been to Columbus MANY times.
All one has to do is DRIVE THROUGH either neighborhood and it's pretty self-evident.
You mean you don't like the archways in the Short North?
LOL
Or how about all of the "speciality" shops?
I think it was actually being unfortunate enough to be in Columbus the day of the Gay Pride parade was enough to convince me.
LOL
There were 3 things I was told when I arrived in Ohio for my junior year on...
#1 (in the order that it was told to me): John Holmes graduated from my high school back in the 60s
#2 Don't go to Gerbil Village or the Short North
#3 Something about being a football/sports player and having a friday hall pass....
It's pretty common knowledge. I've been to Columbus MANY times.
Oh, ok.............
so since you're an expert on Columbus - based on being here MANY times...................
How did you discover there were so many "homos?"
I live here, have all my life, capitalism is alive and well in both of the neighborhoods you mentioned. If it were not for the Short North, German Village, and OSU, Columbus would probably be Flint Michigan.
It may be a Cow-Town, but it's MY Cowtown
Columbus and Franklin County have gone totally to hell. Somalian influx is out of control. Most Repubs have moved outside the 270 beltway and outside the county. This is why Deb Pryce is in trouble.
Commie kerry took Columbus and so will commie brown.
I have friends who went to OSU and OWU. Partied there with them on several occasions. They often said that Short North is a cool place to go but it's "where all the fags hang out" in their words. Also was there during the Gay Pride parade (not FOR the parade...just DURING it.) Even happened upon an article claiming Columbus was a gay-friendly city that specifically mentioned Short North and German Village. Put 2 and 2 together...(and add in confirmation from freeper MikefromOhio...)
I never denied capitalism being alive and well. Columbus is a good example of a city that is fiscally conservative but has many social liberals.
I think it will be much much closer than you think.
You mean you don't like the archways in the Short North?
Another symptom of the "pay to play" culture of city/ state government
I don't see why you are so upset about this. You openly state that Brown is almost as bad as Castro or Kucinich; yet you aren't doing anything to help prevent this nut from being our Senator until 2013. Clearly, you are more interested in venting your spleen on DeWine than saving us from a whackjob Senator. That's your Constitutional Right, of course, but it lessens your case against folks who vote for Brown.
This isn't an election for Governor where the candidate is limited to eight years. This is for Senate, where Brown WOULD be in for at least six years. Incumbents are tough to beat, and if he wins re-election just ONCE, we have him until 2019. Tony, are you REALLY going to be able to console yourself in 2017 if this nut is in the Senate by saying "Well, at least I told DeWine 'What For' back in 2006"?
