Was Qana Staged? Cont'd [Jonah Goldberg]
A giant banner denouncing Rice and the "Qana massacre" might have been made a bit too quickly. I don't want to get too far out ahead on this, but I know we've got a zillion printer-type folks among our readers. Do you guys think such a banner could be made in 2-4 hours (particularly in a supposedly war-ravaged area)? Update: From a reader:
"Do you guys think such a banner could be made in 2-4 hours (particularly in a supposedly war-ravaged area)?"
Heck no. A designer could throw it together in probably 15 minutes or so, but the longest part would be the printing. Notice how deep the reds and blacks are - this means they didn't just bust it out. I wouldnt be surprised if that job itself (requiring special equipment, as it looks to be printed on canvas or nylon, not merely paper) took 6 hours simply to print.
Also, that puppy would be expensive.
Update II: From a reader:
Nope. Not possible in 2 hours to design, typeset, print, assemble and transport to the site. 24 hours if you're really good to do all the above. I say that as an career commercial artist of 18 years now.
Update III: From another reader:
called a close friend who has a very large printing company in NY with the question. he called out to one of his technicians as to how long a color 30 foot banner would take to produce. the response was that it would have to be done by a special machine and that machine would take "5 to 6 hours." by the way, their rather enormous, state of the art (less than 6 months old) facility doesn't even have the equipment necessary to do it. so make a guess as to what's available in a war-ravaged area...

>>>>>>>>".."We have it from a credible source that Hizbullah, alarmed by Siniora's plan, has concocted an incident that would help thwart the negotiations. Knowing full well that Israel will not hesitate to bombard civilian bombard civilian targets, Hizbullah gunmen placed a rocket launcher on the roof in Qana and brought disabled children inside, in a bid to provoke a response by the Israeli Air Force. In this way, they were planning to take advantage of the death of innocents and curtail the negotiation initiative," the site stated..."<<<<<<
Islamists disregard human life. During Bosnian civil war, the very same script was used -they bombed their own civilians on three occasions (Breadline massacre, Markale I Markale II) to blame Serbs and get diplomatic and military support for their cause. The similar tactic was used by Kosovo Albanians (staged Racak "massacre")
These lies were eagerly regurgitated by the MSM and "human rights" guns for hire.
And it worked.
Sadly, the bulk of these brazen lies was spread by the Jewish American organisations and liberal Jewish Americans. Neo-cons did not spare lies either.
All of them jointly opened the floodgates to deluge of Islamic lies. Now, we are reaping what they sow.

If these animals want bodies in a building, they will get them in. Did you also notice the photo of the same guy in a green helmet and florescent vest? If it is the same guy set up for this, he could pull out cold dead children and make like they were recent victim.
To: Bryan24
You don't produce something like this on the spur of the moment and do it that quickly. Actually you are quite wrong and stlnative linked many times to a common machine that can knock it out in 15 minutes. It's a matter of photoshoping an image, adding text and pressing the print button.
Jonah's article stated this was hung in Qana, which it wasn't. It was hung off a bridge in Beriut.

"Was that prior planning evidence of a planned massacre or staged event?"
Damn right it is evidence! Why would they plan a particular poster ten years after a similar "Massacre" in the same town?
Too many items have to work just right in War conditions to have that huge banner appear as innocent protest.

re: photos of dead children
Pardon me for being cold BUT considering the fact they were "victims" of a building collapse, why aren't their heads crushed and why the lack of blood on their bodies? Reason, think back to every photo of earthquake victims and the mangled, bloodied state of the corpses? Why are the bodies being held up to the cameras as if they were trophy fish?

Do you think they could have made teeth more fang-like if they tried?

There is nothing better for the soul than validation. I noted these very same things 2 days ago or 1 day before the wave.

It's ok for the Hezbo's to do that to an image of a black woman but if a conservative did that WHOA MAN! better watch out! That would be the story, forget some building being blown up.

"Jonah's article stated this was hung in Qana, which it wasn't."
No, one of the blog links said that, the photo itself says Beirut.

Assuming it was staged, is this the supposed process?
1) Hezzies print banner
2) Hezzies herd women & children into basement (or move bodies of earlier victims into basement)
3) Hezzies start launching from the building to draw Israeli fire
4) Israel hits (or nearly hits building)
5) Building stands for eight hours (much to Hezzies dismay)
6) Hezzies demo/bomb building themselves
7) Out come the bodies
8) Up goes the banner

I'm guessing they do use billboards in Lebanon.
So, there is at least one of these printers someplace in either Lebanon or a closely bordering ally of Hezbollah.

Excuse me, I don't think I am "quite wrong".
I read stlnative's posts. That is why I said it is very possible for this to have been done that way.
However, you didn't think my post through, apparently.
Did you know EXACTLY where the company was that could produce this type of banner in less than 1 hour? I didn't even know it could be done, much less know where one is located.
Do you have a picture of Condolezza rice on your computer right now?
Do you have the money, right now, to go and pay for a banner like that? I feel pretty confident that it would cost up into the 4 figure range.
It "COULD" have been done that way.
I find it unlikely that it did happen that way.
This looks and smells like a hard propoganda exercise, not a spur of the moment action by some "protesters" in Beirut.
Before the bombing, you locate the printer, locate the pictures, plan you headings for the banner, get your financing in order.
After the bombing, you show up at the print company with your banner idea all laid out and ready to go.
There are a host of other possibilites:
- The print company is tied in to Hezbollah
- The print company employs the "protestors"
- The "protestors" were actually Hezbollah operatives.
We could go on and on.
All I'm opining is that, to me, it seems likely that Hezbollah saw a window of opportunity with Condi Rice in the region and planned an operation.
I don't know. 2 Arab geek-goobers from Beirut may have more money than brains and did this in an hour.
Who knows?

The building was hit around 1am local time, 8am ET. According to the IDF, it collapsed at 7am, 2pm ET. According to residents, it collapsed several minutes after the bombing.
The Reuters story came out 12:55pm ET or 5:55am local time.
So we have these possibilities:
1) The residents are accurate and they had 4 hours to make the sign after the collapse.
2) The IDF is accurate and the sign was made before the building collapsed while it was still smoking. They still had a max of 4 hours to make it.
Something is tripping the BS meter and I'm pretty sure it's the Hezzies.

... Did you notice the guy in the helmet doing the holding? Why does he appear so much? Actually, his name is Mamoud HockPtui, often referred to as the "Ned Beatty of the Middle East". He's a beloved character in the tradition of Cantiflas or Gabby Hayes. His first film appearance was uncredited but drew great praise from critics as the boy who used a dog turn to draw a Hitler moustache on his sleeping uncle, Syrian character actor "Falafel" Babaganoush.
