The wife and father of kidnapped Israeli soldier Ehud Goldwasser, Karnit, holding a wedding photograph, and Shlomo Goldwasser arrive at Heathrow Airport in London, Monday July 31, 2006. Hezbollah kidnapped two Israeli soldiers on July 12, triggering an Israeli offensive against Lebanon that has killed hundreds of people, mostly civilians.
I think I will make pancakes.
The urgent need in Lebanon is that Israeli attacks stop, the nation's regular military forces control the southern region, Hezbollah cease as a separate fighting force, and future attacks against Israel be prevented [Of course, the first aim is achievable, but Carter fails to explain how the rest would be accomplished]. Israel should withdraw from all Lebanese territory, including Shebaa Farms, and release the Lebanese prisoners [Amazing! He never mentions the kidnapped Israeli soldiers]. Yet yesterday, Prime Minister Ehud Olmert rejected a cease-fire.I can't do any more. He's not worth my time.Snip...
Leaders on both sides ignore strong majorities that crave peace, allowing extremist-led violence to preempt all opportunities for building a political consensus. Traumatized Israelis cling to the false hope that their lives will be made safer by incremental unilateral withdrawals from occupied areas, while Palestinians see their remnant territories reduced to little more than human dumping grounds surrounded by a provocative "security barrier" that embarrasses Israel's friends and that fails to bring safety or stability. [Carter so misses the mark, one wonders at his mental stability. The part about the Palestinians doesn't even make sense, but the nut of the problem is that ISRAEL'S NEIGHBORS KEEP ATTACKING HER!]
Ayta a-Shab it is according to JPost. Close to the Israeli border which means that the IDF still has a lot of work to do.
At least Carter (now!) can blame his age.
This guy cannot even claim advanced age as a defence for his jibberish: http://bildt.blogspot.com
(Bildt worked together with Carter during the PA elections and lauded all and every statement by the former President.)
Don't get me started on the worst president ever!
FOR Lebanon?
Another good article from Fjordman published today (Superman, Harry Potter and the War against Jihad):

They are fascists. I keep yelling it , much to the chagrin of my friends who insist on the terrorist nomenclature, or insurgeants, etc.
Fascists teach their children that they are of invincible race and heritage, superior to all other humans. The capacity for unbridled violence is shocking to anyone who is civilized.
The Germans did the same thing in their Nazi Youth movements, and used their youngsters in the defence of Germany against allied forces. Many allied soldiers were haunted for the rest of their lives at having to shoot 14 year old boys who se corpses revealed that they did not have to shave.
Our war with them is a clash of civilizations , a test as to whether the world shall proceed on the basis of self evident, inalienable human rights, or be thrust into the darkness that so threatened the very spirit of men like Winstin Chgurchill.
Shocking to see so many Americans misunderstand the true nature of the Pan Islamic movement. Not even the supporters of Iran: Russia and China, seem to understand, when in particular Russia should after what happened just West of Moscow as they retreated before the Nazis.
Ok, thanks.
This is going to be a little different than Maroun al Ras and Bent Jbail.
In those engagements, IDF and Hezzie forces were fairly evenly matched, with limited indirect and CAS fires supporting IDF.
I don't expect any further reports from those Hezbollah units.
Every Spring, I come across nests of pigmy rattlesnakes with "cute" little snakes crawling about. It doesn't take long for them to actually learn to strike and, whether bitten by an adult or near infant, the pain (or death) is the same.
Anyone familiar with Israeli campaigns of the past would hardly say that Israel has made mistakes and suffered excesses. A truer picture would be rendered by saying that any mistakes Israel has made are because she has been too wary of excess.
If this were the 1970s Israeli forces would be entering Beirut by now after having decimated the Syrian Army arrayed on Lebanons border. The fact that this has not ocurred has inspired the Islamofascists to think that their victory is at hand.

Morning all.
BTTT!
This thread is 2000+ by the end of the day and many give up reading it due to the volume. What shall we do, report all off topic posts as abuse? The irony is that you are right now discussing an off topic matter.
Ah...the irony! ;^)
Take heart, the wiles of deception come with high wages.
When Israel does act, it will be when everyone leasts expects it, especially the enemy.
I would not rule out a swift tangle with the Syrian Army even before the IDF goes into Lebanon. The Syrians are VERY, VERY nervous, and well they should be.
The Iranians? Are smug, but even they offer the most lucrative target they have in years.
Speaking with an Israeli friend the other day, he said: Hezbollah, Syria and Iran are like three men bent over a wall to sample the berries of a neighbor, unaware that behind them comes a farmer with a trident, upon whose points the rectums of these 3 shall dangle, while the bodies writh on the ground.
