A leading Republican senator urged US President George W. Bush to call for an immediate ceasefire in the war between Israel and the militant group Hezbollah in Lebanon.
"The sickening slaughter on both sides must end now. President Bush must call for an immediate ceasefire. This madness must stop," Nebraska Senator Chuck Hagel, a possible candidate in the 2008 presidential election, said on the Senate floor.
The Bush administration has been under pressure from Arab and European states to press Israel into halting its offensive, but has received relatively limited pressure from US lawmakers -- especially those in his own party -- to do the same.
Hagel said the US link to Israel was a "special and historic one." "But, it need not and cannot be at the expense of our Arab and Muslim relationships," he said.

but what we see here - is the formula by which the enemy achieves victory. an enemy that could never be victorious on the battlefield. the media runs biased stories night and day, the world community (whatever the hell that is) is against israel (and the US, by proxy). and slowly, it takes its toll. public opinion changes, some jerk like Hagel comes out of the woodwork, the entire process feeds on itself.
and what happens in the end - is that hezbollah wins.
the West is incapable of fighting a winning war against islamofacism, so long as this formula remains in place and goes unchallenged.

Hagel said the US link to Israel was a "special and historic one." "But, it need not and cannot be at the expense of our Arab and Muslim relationships," he said. Well at least we know Hagel doesn't have the qualifications to be a senator, much less anything else. Hagel should resign, he has shown himself to be an idiot. He has no idea of who the terrorists are....(hint Hagel they are arab and muslim.)

I had to go to DC one morning for a project and I ended up sitting beside one of Hagel's domestic policy advisers on the metro. She was pretty hot. If only he had just as much brains as she had looks.

"This madness must stop", said Hagel I suppose Hagel would have demanded the end of Allied bombing of Germany and Japan.

I love how the MSM calls anyone who disagrees with President Bush "Top Republican," "Leading Republican," or "Powerful Republican."
Hagel ain't' none of those things.

Here is the cover of the NYTimes Magazine in March of this year, referring to that publicity hound, Hagel, as the "heartland iconoclast," or the heartland senator of bombast. There isn't any conservative principle that this man wouldn't betray, there isn't any conservative he wouldn't stab in the back to advance his own selfish political interests. Hagel is loyal only to hagel.

It still amazes me how people allow themselves to be manipulated by staged media events(propaganda). Watch for more brain dead Rhinos to join the chorus.
