US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice salutes a US Marine as she walks towards a helicopter upon her departure from Beirut after meeting with Lebanese officials.
"......some journalists explained that they had known that all along but they couldn't publish it because they or their co-workers were threatened."
The difference is informing the viewers in real time rather than after the fact.
Fox reporters have openly stated the limitations imposed by Israel on airing some film. I feel certain Israel's censorship is not accompanied by the threat of bodily harm to colleagues.
I hope these particular reporters on each side are communicating. ;)

Nowhere has the surreal rhetoric reached greater heights than on CNN, and not just in the mouths of guests, though incredibly CNN has been giving air time to Hezbollah terrorists. (Imagine CNN offering Osama or Mullah Omar access to its cameras for a walk about post-9/11 but pre-regime change Afghanistan.) Hezbollah spokesman Hussein Nablusi got lots of air time this week on the "most busted name in news." Keep in mind that Hezbollah murdered hundreds of Marines, but CNN's Nic Robertson couldn't get a question in about that attack.
Robertson got a "tour" of south Beirut Tuesday, courtesy of Hezbollah, and here was his summary report to Wolf Blitzer:
"In all that time we were there, which was a very, very brief period, we didn't see any evidence of military equipment, we didn't go into the buildings, we didn't search underneath the rubble, but some of the buildings were really torn up, there was a lot of debris hanging out of, hanging out of broken sides of buildings, a lot of debris strewn along the sides of roads, and in all of that we didn't see any evidence of a military infrastructure or anything like that. Again, though, Wolf, I have to say that it was a very brief and swift tour, escorted by Hezbollah."
That wasn't a "tour," it was a propaganda shoot.
Imagine something similar during WW 2, or Korea or even Vietnam.
The Robertson report is stunning even by CNN's "Eason Jordan standard" of news massaged for the sake of staying "in-country." Jordan has since left CNN, but after the invasion of Iraq, he admitted that CNN censored the news out of Saddam's nightmare to keep the cameras rolling in Baghdad.
What, we have to wonder, is the price being paid by CNN in Beirut?
Then there's the failure to even have the courage of the network's convictions.
Read Lou Dobbs' inane commentary from Tuesday. It is vague almost to the point of being a joke.
But the last graph uses the magic words:
I wouldn't believe anything Hez says.

Thats just sad. I always looked forward to his posts and his European perspective.
I recall posting on one thread that after the headquarters got bombed last week (the one where they thought they got the head of Hezbollah) the video showed a stuffed animal in the rubble.
No, we have limited missile defenses that (as far as I know) can shoot down a few missiles fired simulaneously, but there's no defense against a massive first strike with dozens or hundreds of missiles. Of course, it would be difficult for any country other than Russia or China to launch this kind of attack without us knowing about it months in advance. But for our long-term security it's crucial to stop Iran from building those first nukes, and I think all the major powers agree on this.
They ran it ad nauseum....I was in the Caribbean and they only had CNN. Not until later on in the day did they even have the banner disclaimer at the bottom that it was a Hezzie PR Spokesperson....Was throwing socks at Nic....

I'm like Miss Marple, no TV. Is it possible the IAF is playing whack-a-mole with a Hez biggie or biggies? (fingers tightly crossed).
If so, let's hope they blowed up real good. And PLEASE Lord, let it be Nasrullah or that other animal that Amb. Ginsberg was talking about last night.
