I'm not. He was royally pissed that we gave nuclear support to India, so he threatened that if the US did not help him, he would "seek help elsewhere." Sounds like he got it.

"I think I saw on Pipeline an interview with someone (lefty in Lebanon) the the IDF was using phosphorus in their bombs which I guess causes severe burns."

I saw that on CNN and the Hezzi doc said, "I can smell the phosphorus". Of course they were showing a badly burned child, and I could only think, how could a doctor smell phosphorus over burnt flesh? Of course Israel is not using any illegal weapons, and the videos of bombs blowing up would easily show phosphorus, but a reporter only needs innuendo. Lately, I've been yelling at the TV too much.

Phosphorus is an oddity. Once it starts burning it can't be put out because one of the by-products of burning phosphorus is oxygen. In effect, it makes its own oxygen.

Good one!! I'm always reassured to know that John "Vichy" Kerry HAS A PLAN. I just hope it includes John and Teresa's permanent retirement to Mozambique (where she came from).

I totally agree with you, but to be honest, I don't believe it will happen. Putie is so in bed with the Iranians that he would get wound up in the bedsheets if he tried to get out. Besides, he needs the $$$$$ badly. Make no mistake, Putie and Ahmadinnerjacket are best of buddies and they will stay that way, IMHO. Putie's nuclear scientists and engineers have been in Iran helping them for a long time. And our intelligence knows that. What will happen in the short term ...... who knows?????

Pakistan is doing the absolute minimum for us with regards to hunting down AQ and allowing the Taliban to use Pakistan as an assembly region. If Musharaff starts opening up his nuclear program like some kind of garage sale, we might as well just step aside and let him be assasinated, and deal with whatever replaces him. India will remain a US ally, their economic ties to the US insure that.

"...Peres said Israel would do everything to free the abducted Israeli Defense Forces soldiers, Eldad Regev and Ehud Goldwasser...

Captive IDF soldiers are alive and well, Peres tells families

By Jack Khoury, Tomer Levy and Amiram Barkat, Haaretz Correspondents

Vice Premier Shimon Peres on Monday told the families of the two Israeli soldiers who were captured on the Lebanese border that the two are alive and well, and are being held by Hezbollah.

Peres said Israel would do everything to free the abducted Israeli Defense Forces soldiers, Eldad Regev and Ehud Goldwasser.

However, Major General Uzi Dayan, who represents the families, criticized the government on Monday for dragging its feet in appointing a representative to coordinate the negotiations to free the abducted soldiers. Dayan said he approached Defense Minister Amir Peretz on the matter last week but nothing had been done since then.

Both Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah and Lebanese Foreign Minister Fawzi Salloukh have spoken about the captured soldiers. Salloukh said on Sunday that the two kidnapped soldiers are in good health.

Nasrallah said that no one had been authorized to speak about the abducted soldiers.

Peres, who visited the families on Monday, confirmed that the soldiers are well, a statement based on data that Israel has obtained apart from Salloukh's statement.

He said Salloukh's statement was important not only due to the information regarding the soldiers' health but also because it indicated that the Lebanese government was taking responsibility for them.

The Goldwasser family in Nahariya said they had given the International Red Cross a letter to Ehud, and were still waiting for a reply.

The Goldwasser family asked Peres to use all his international connections, especially with countries that have influence on Lebanon, to free the soldiers.

Peres told them of France's involvement in the efforts to free the two men. He also raised the issue at his meeting with the Russian deputy foreign minister last night.

"Hezbollah wanted to turn the kidnapping into a strategic defeat of Israel with missiles. Hezbollah will not cooperate until it is broken," Peres said after meeting with the Regev family in Kiryat Motzkin.

"The damage Hezbollah caused Lebanon is huge," he said.

Peres said: "Syria is two-faced, pretending to fight terror, but in fact helping and guiding Hezbollah and Hamas."

"[Hezbollah] should have understand that from the moment they slipped the safety catch we could only respond with victory," Peres said.

The parents of the abducted soldiers met with the president of the European Jewish Congress, Pierre Besnainou, on Monday, and sought his help in bringing the issue before the European public.

Been hanging around here trying to figure out if Israel has a strategy or if they're holding back till they have more strength.

I heard Yoni tonight and he sounded pi$$ed that the IDF is playing around.

WOW..what a great post.

That was most informative..and the fact that you have been there tells me a lot...

The part about how the Lebanese are dependent on Hezbollah, so it isn't so easy just to push them away or whatever, is the way that Saddam, Assad, Castro, Chavez, stay in power, they make the people SO dependent and so brainwashed, I can see where it would be pretty impossible to even get them to admit that they would be better off without Hezbollah in their country.

Hi, El Gran. I hope you find some more worthwhile viewing to make your cable inevestment pay off. Really, because this Sheppy has lost his mind ... if he ever had one.

Although, I was thinking he was outsmarted by his interviewees --- which probably happens often --- because their answers sort of reminded me of baseball players being interviewed before a game with an arch rival. They act all in awe of the opposing team, their mighty pitcher, their batting averages, etc. But it turns out it's all psyops, cuz then they go out and kill the other guy.

Another thing, Shepster wants to know if they're scared cuz he sure as heck is.
