Wexler falls into a comedic interviewer's trap -- and he's not laughing

I like Colbert's brand of humor, except for his Washington press club gig. He was trying to be too cute, and it was very disappointing, because Steve can be very funny. And sometimes it can get a little raunchy, but compared to all the other stuff in our x-rated culture, it's pretty tame. He is very quick with the one-liners, and most of his guests do well playing along with his political charades.

Isn't Wexler the one who thinks he's an expert on elections?

This segment was funny - when Colbert asked him with a straight face "you've called for the redeployment of our troups in Iraq, where do you want them redeployed to, Iran?" and from that point, Wexler was really confused.

If he's that stupid then I will have to lower my evaluation of the Democrat intelligence to lower than snake feces.

Well, Duuh! What did he THINK was going to happen? It's the Colbert Report! I guess he doesn't know any older teenagers, or twentysomethings. They LOVE the show and could have told him exactly what to expect!

"I enjoy cocaine because it's a fun thing to do." Followed by, again at Colbert's suggestion: "I enjoy the company of prostitutes for the following reasons because it's a fun thing to do. If you combine the two together, it's probably even more fun."

Cobert premised his prompt with the statement that since Wexler had no opposition in his election, he could say anything he wanted. Wexler obviously is not smart enough to realize that he must stand for re-election in 2008.

Sort of reminds me of the Kerry bunny suit photos. He was all in favor of it until he saw the reaction of the media.

How can members of Congress keep getting roped in like this by that guy? You'd think they'd know about him by now.

"Wexler is so intense and has no sense of humor

What lib has?

Was discussing this just recently here with another Freeper.

Who can name me one well known lib (in or out of elected office) who has a real good sense of humor?

There may be some, but they are few and far between.

Most are so miserable (and spend every waking minute trying to figure out ways to make the rest of us just as miserable) that they never do have the time to enjoy life and lighten up a little. IMHO

"He is not that sharp. I thought he had absolutely no clue and just caught like a deer in the headlights"

I think you're right.
I am so glad I got to watch it.
His expression was priceless!

The only saving grace is that few people watch Colbert and fewer vote in Wexler's district.

Congressman Airhead will be re-elected as long as he draws breath. He's a New York City transplant to southern Florida as are his condo-commando retiree constituents. As they shuffle off this mortal coil, they're replaced by other airhead New York City commie retirees. So the beat goes on.

Wexler has an American Conservative Union rating of 0 (nada, nothing, nil).

Interesting tidbit from his voting record ratings (source: Project Vote Smart): He supports the interests of Planned Parenthood 100% of the time and the interests of the Society for Animal Protection 100% of the time.

When stupid people elect stupid politicians...

Watching some of Colbert's other stuff, I'll have to start watching the show.
