Urgently requesting prayers from my fellow FReepers for my mother. I just received a call that they think she had a stroke this morning, she is only 58.
Freepers who know about strokes and treatments, please write. I know you all are the best and can provide me with the best advice and information.
Am traveling to Iowa so not sure when I will be able to post again.
Please keep my mom and my family in your prayers!
Thank you
Prayers on the way.
Don't know much about strokes, but your mother will certainly be included in my nightly prayers.
You're right to be concerned, but by no means should you panic.
still getting info....
Your mother will be in my prayers.
The faster you can get her to medical help the better. They can do wonders these days! Our prayers are with you.
It's likely they got her in quickly enough, then. Prayers and best wishes for her quick recovery.
Prayers to the Father....for her and you and your family.
Hang in there, they have some pretty effective meds for stroke nowadays. It's a good thing that quick action was taken.
Prayers....
RushCrush-I will pray for your Mom ,fatima
Your Mom will be in our prayers. Please try to look up Kate Adamson and her book, "Kate's Journey." Kate had a stroke and was locked in -- worse than Terri Schiavo, but she had a husband who was the exact opposite of Michael Schiavo and fought for her life. Kate made a nearly complete recovery.
Prayers for your mother.
Let us know more info when you have it, RushCrush. There are different types, severities etc.
My mother had a stroke some years ago. The advances in stroke rehab etc just between then and now are great.
I will pray for her medical care and condition and for you to have a safe journey there, RushCrush.
prayer bump
My husband had a stroke at the age of 47 but it was not diagnosed as such until 30 days later (long story but the other option was a brain tumor so we were lucky). We really worked on his rehab which was difficult because he became very short-tempered and he thought I was pushing him too hard. It paid off as the only effects he has now is a slumping left shoulder and a little left foot dragging when he gets too tired. It was very frightening for both of us but his neurologist was great.
Prayers for you and your mom.
Anyway, prayers sent!
You and your family are in my prayers, especially for your safe trip. At such a young age, it is possible that your mom requires a surgery called carotid endarterectomy. This is not a simple thing, but it is routine. Stripping off of plaque buildup in arteries in the neck.
You did not say why stroke was suspected. If it was just that she passed out, it could be a simple electrolyte imbalance, borderline diabetes, that kind of thing. Keep your chin up. Prayers continue.
