BOSTON (AP) - Gov. Mitt Romney ordered an immediate shutdown of the Ted Williams Tunnel's eastbound lanes Thursday as the investigation continued into a deadly collapse of ceiling panels in a connecting tunnel.
No reasons for the closure were immediately released. The governor has been overseeing the inspections of the Big Dig tunnels since shortly after the fatal accident July 10 that killed Milena Del Valle, 38, as she and her husband drove to the airport.
The Ted Williams Tunnel was a key part of the city's massive Big Dig project and leads from Boston to Logan International Airport. The Interstate 90 tunnel where a woman was crushed by 12 tons of falling cement ceiling panels leads to the Ted Williams Tunnel.
The Tunnel is aptly named.........
Now they're complaining that instead of wasting money on this, we should have been pouring it into mass transit.
Now, now, let's be Politically Correct: "It allegedly fell"
>>a pork barrel boondoggle of epic proportion.
"I told you so...this doesn't pass the sniff test"--the late Jerry Williams, longtime talk radio host (enemy of Dukakis, etc...remember The Governors? Jerry, Howie Carr, and
Barb Anderson...
Normally I would say, "Sick of all this S##t, Vote Republican." In this State the rats and the pubbies share a portion of the blame. If Weld was not a typical Brahman pubbie, rat in sheep's clothing, and Argio wasn't a moron, Swifty, who knows, we could be a viable party in this State.
As smart as they are they will probably throw a few more billion at it. Yeah, that's the ticket...
When avoidable stuff happens, where the heck is Darwin? That is, the designer/manufacturer/installer/political
hack/lawyer etc., is supposed to be the one that is hurt by the incompetence and/or corruption.
No wonder Darwin is coming under fire...
a tunnel going under an ocean harbor is LEAKING? yikes! How much will auto insurance now rise in Boston zip codes? ... or will they spread the liability over all American policy-holders? Phony immigrants need not worry as only insured drivers will be directly affected...
"Dispute over Ted Williams Tunnel finally comes to a head........"
bad
bad
bad :)
>>a tunnel going under an ocean harbor is LEAKING
Other tunnels don't have this problem. Wonder if The Learning Channel will re-air that documentary on the modern marvel,
the Big Dig? Slurry walls, slurry walls, the only thing slurry is Ted K's voice after some Chivas.
>>Phony immigrants
Mike Dukakis, the man who gave fake social security numbers to illegals so they can collect welfare, is now out in the public eye again, blasting those Wascally Wepublican governors who came after him.
Oh...that was cold....
Not as cold as Ted.......
Perhaps this will help. Think of Hillary and Schmuck Chumer complaining about all the fed tax revenue New York generates that does not return to the state. Instead, it is going to Ted Kennedy's second cousin's brother-in-law's construction company that charged $67 a hole to embed bolts in epoxy. But, they didn't epoxy 25% of the bolts so they could embezzle enough money to pay Kennedy's Chivas Regal scotch bribe.
Jerry Willams usually didn't pass the sniff test, especially after getting his ass periodically roasted when he debated Avi Nelson...
Well in reality this was just a slow motion version of Katrina/New Orleans/Louisiana local corruption and wast of Federal provided Pork/money that they will not be able to "delegate the blame up" to being Bush's Fault...
But during his later years, as a "populist", Jer' did pretty well in getting people mobilized and spreading the word nationwide about the Duke. "I'm Not Boring"...
See link below on best explanation on fundamental problem. IMO
