Blind Eyes Over Kosovo
The American Spectator ^ | 20 July 2006 | Doug Bandow

PRIZREN, Kosovo -- Being a monk is never easy. But Brother Benedict, a friendly 29-year-old with the ever-present beard that characterizes Orthodox Christian clerics, cheerfully welcomed three foreign visitors to his humble abode.

Unfortunately, any Serb who travels outside of few remaining enclaves does so at his own risk. At the quasi-border dividing Serbia from Kosovo (which nominally remains part of Serbia), drivers routinely replace their Serbian license plates with ones marked Kosovo to disguise their identities. To do otherwise would risk not only their cars but their lives.

Even foreigners are at risk. Some British tourists recently were roughed up and their car was destroyed because the vehicle had been rented in Belgrade. Had they been Serbian their lives probably would have been forfeited. More than 900 Serbs have been murdered since the allies took control and ethnic killings continue in the territory. But you will look long and hard to find an ethnic Albanian jailed for committing the crimes.

Nauseating.

Leftist liberal jerks leaving the truth twisting in the wind.

John Wayne had Serbian friends, my Mother's uncle was one of them.

Now that is interesting. Marion Morrison knew how to pick his friends for sure! Serbs were and have been a heroic people and suporters of the Allies in WWII. So of course Wayne would be their friends.

Too bad that the Clintoinoids were ignorant of history reaping havoc with the world because of their ignorance and leftist politics.

Yes, it was during the days before he went to Hollywood.

John Wayne actually backed Felman in trying to get that monument to Draza built.

I heard lots of story about John Wayne from my Serbian Kumovi in Vegas -- yes, he did have a number of Serb friends even after he went to Hollywood.

I noticed that the screenwriter for the Gere film is the same on who did the film Matador, with Pierce Brosnan. Anyone see Matador? I saw it and thought it sucked so bad that I turned it off half way through -- something I rarely ever do. Hopefully, this Gere film will suck just as bad!

Good Morning BokaBabe:
I tried to connect to that talk show, and the server
wouldn't connect. I'll check their archive later.

LOL, Richard (save the Gerbilles) Gere, in Croatia, and
Bosnia. I can just picture the Hollywood propaganda.
Without knowing the plot, the Serns are the bad guys
and the Islamofacists are the hero's.

"Roughly two decades ago Slobodan Milosevic launched his grab for power with a speech in Kosovo that played upon Serb nationalism. Then it was Albanians who suffered, leading to an increasingly bitter guerrilla war and NATO military intervention in March 1999."

Many forget about the many beatings, rapes, thefts, and intimidations non-Muslims received in that region while Tito was till alive. So, as a result, Tito didn't do much in punishing those groups. Instead he diluted the Serbian region with more separatist Muslims and give them more recognition in that region. So, years of inaction against such Neanderthals gave the Muslims a taste of the possibilities.

As I have said many times. It's like California slowly becoming more and more populated by illegal and legal Mexicans. Then from time to time there would be some unrest. As a result, in order to prevent problems and rioting, the government would allow for the Mexican flag to fly at all government buildings and all administrative processes to be written in Spanish. Now, since the government has already accommodated many Mexican needs, the ground work is there to simply declare INDEPENDANCE from the UNION with an armed insurgency that would begin to push non-Mexicans out.

So, in this pretend scenario what would you think the US President would do?

a) Get NATO involved?
b) Call the UN security council?
c) Call a meeting and offer half of California?
d) Send in the military?

The aim would be to kill those who seek to take control of California by force...period! However, if one seeks to quash this uprising, they may be subject to being called Hitler, the Butcher of California, racist, Nationalistic, and fascist to name a few, by the PC media and the European community.

So, then let's say Bush sends in troops to kill these insurgents who seek to tear apart California. However, later the UN gets involved with Germany taking the lead to recognize the newly independent California. NATO then would give Bush an ultimatum that nobody in their right mind would agree to. So, Bush does not comply and NATO would start to bomb the US to force BUSH into compliance.

Later Bush would be arrested and sent to the Hague for war crimes and California is given to Mexico.

Picture that? No? Well, recognition of this newly formed Country is an international precedent thanks to Bill Clinton and his ilk. God forbid anything like this happening here in the states but this is basically the situation in Serbia. Kosovo is Serbia and that's that. There is no "majority" Albanians in Kosovo. They are only the majority if you don't count Kosovo as Serbia. Doing so has already separated the two regions that by the way, was separated to divide Serbs many years ago.

After Petty Woman and a great film where he played a lawyer who got duped by an actor who shold have gotten the Oscar--no name at this time, Gere's career has stalled.

He is now dancing.

The US of A, t he UN, the EC are punishing the Serbs for not turning over Mladic and Karadzic.

Yet Ceku gets elected to a high office for atrocities he committed.

Go figure folks.

But Clinton/Albright and Holbrooke needed a legacy.
