Cape man buoys theory missile downed jet By Joe Dwinell

A Bay State physicist is taking on the National Transportation Safety Board in federal court in Boston to help bolster his theory a missile is to blame for taking down TWA Flight 800 a decade ago.

“I don’t want this 10-year anniversary to go by without paying attention to this plausible theory,” said Tom Stalcup, a Falmouth resident who holds a doctorate in physics and heads up the Flight 800 Independent Researchers Organization.

Flight 800 exploded and crashed in the sea south of Long Island, N.Y., at 3 p.m. on July 17, 1996.

Stalcup’s group, linked mostly by the Internet, has filed a complaint in U.S. District Court in Boston seeking documents relating to the crash, including a “wreckage item” that exited the plane’s airframe at “apparent supersonic speeds.”

Stalcup alleges the Navy recovered this “smoking gun” wreckage.

Federal officials say the crash was an accident - not a missile strike from a Navy exercise or anything else

Double Touché

Boeing's lack of response to the fuel tank theory was always an obstacle to the conspiracy in my mind.

Let's also remember that families of the passengers would not have gotten much compensation - IIRC, this was covered by the Death on the High Seas Act. Then President Clinton signed something that changed the rules such that the families received considerably more in compensation.

I live and fish from my boat right around Logan.

Look at a map of Long Island and notice how far away from JFK Airport the plane was when it went down. It wasn't anywhere "near" the airport at all.

Then go out tonight and look at an airliner flying overhead at an altitude of 15,000 feet or more -- and tell me that you'd look upon that aircraft as an ideal target for your anti-aircraft missile.

"I thought it was at night."

There was an eclipse that evening, and a white buffalo was born in Kentucky.

"Boeing wins government contracts on a regular basis."

So you agree that Boeing has incentive to support the NTSB position?

"what did they do, brain wash the crew? all of them, regular americans who volunteered for the navy - are going to cover this up, not speak a word of it, for 10 years?"

Where do you live? Stay where you are, we will be there shortly. In fact, we are outside your door.

Federal investigators blame Flight 800 disaster
on short circuit, but bomb, missile theories persist

By STEPHANIE FARR - sfarr@sungazette.com

(excerpt)

Donald Nibert, father of Flight 800 victim Cheryl Nibert, met with many eyewitnesses to the crash shortly after it happened. He said he has felt, from the beginning, that the cause of the accident was friendly fire.

From a fighter pilot who was working helicopter activities with the National Guard on the night of the crash to civilians who saw the explosion from the ground, there were many people who told Nibert they observed a missile, or the exhaust trail of a missile, right before the plane went down.

“It tells me something is not right,” Nibert said. “So I had questions, reasonable questions.”

Montoursville Mayor John Dorin remembers getting a phone call from then-president Bill Clinton just a day after the crash.

“At that point, we were talking about terrorists. He said, ‘I’m going to do my best — if this was a terrorist situation — to solve this problem,’ ” Dorin said. “He said he was putting his best people on this tragedy.”

Dorin said at first, “there was no question about it,” most people thought the downing of Flight 800 was the result of a terrorist attack. But three years later with no cause in sight, Dorin sent a letter to the president asking for conclusions.

When a conclusion was determined, Dorin said, he spoke with the father of one of the victims who told him that he accepted the theory. Dorin said he supported that decision.

“But in the back of my mind, I’m not completely satisfied. People, to this day, will swear they saw something go up,” he said. “There’s always going to be a question, but all these agencies looked at it, and I’ll accept that.”

Nibert took his questions to the agency officials working on the investigation. He asked one NTSB official if there were any satellites covering the area of Flight 800’s path on the evening of July 17. He was told there were three — and that all three had failed to operate on that particular pass.

“So I asked what the probability was that one would fail on a clear night,” he said. “I was told that was classified information.”

Former school district superintendent David P. Black, now retired, said he knows many people spent a lot of time and energy on the investigation of Flight 800.

“At this point, I’m willing to accept their explanation,” he said. “But I know there’s some contradictory evidence.”

The questions in Nibert’s mind kept him up at night and spurred him to ask Jim Hall, former chairman of the NTSB, for the original flight-data and cockpit-voice recorders from Flight 800. The NTSB could not release the cockpit voice recorder under law, Nibert said, but Hall did provide him with a copy of the flight-data recorder.

Nibert had the material independently analyzed by two specialists. One found there was at least two seconds edited, deleted or removed from the end of the tape while the other found there were at least four seconds missing, Nibert said.

When Nibert and Hall’s experts met to discuss the discrepancies, the testimony presented by Nibert’s experts was not refuted by any of the NTSB’s analysts, Nibert said.

Upon returning home from the meeting, Nibert wrote Hall a letter discussing the presentation. Nibert said he sent the letter on a Thursday and on Monday, the day the letter should have arrived at Hall’s office, Hall resigned. Nibert said he has not heard any answers from the NTSB since that day.

Although Nibert and Hall shared heated words over the investigation, Nibert said he does not believe Hall was at fault, or even aware of a possible cover-up.

“I still have respect for Jim Hall,” Nibert said. “I feel that (the position) was beyond his capacity and he was kept in the dark.”

If it WAS a terrorist missile, do you think Clinton would have pursued it as fast as he did the attack on the USS Cole?

Btw, if you read old FR threads, the "Old Ones" never believed the NTSB. FR is even listed on some TWA 800 sites as a source of info.

Your first clue was that the FBI and CIA took over the investigation. To my knowledge an investigation has never been wrestled away from the NTSB before.

This is the one element of the story that simply can't be adequately explained.

Even worse . . . the CIA actually produced the video in which the eyewitness accounts are explained away. I burst out laughing the first time I saw that thing -- because it was so patently absurd that it reminded of one of those silly propaganda pieces that one would expect to see in the Soviet Union at the height of the Cold War. You know -- like a Moscow news report explaining that the Chernobyl disaster was caused by sabateurs from the United States or something like that.

not along the long island south shore, the planes fly right along it - the further west you are, the lower the planes are.

Clinton was a highway wreck that the Dems enjoyed rubber-necking for eight years. I find it extremely hard to believe that so many people could be involved. But....I wasn't there to see it, so, who knows.

Well, that just proves that U.S. Air was in on the plot...

"Boeing's lack of response to the fuel tank theory was always an obstacle to the conspiracy in my mind."

Boeing's customers never demanded any changes be made to existing and future fuel tanks (which still haven't been made); thus, Boeing's customers' lack of response to the fuel tank theory was always an obstacle to the official story in my mind.

Where are the ATC radar tapes? If this was just an explosion, why have those radar tapes been kept under lock and key?

Where is the wreckage? If this was just a mechanical failure/explosion...with no terrorism...then why aren't independent organizations (e.g. news media) allow to run residue tests on the wreckage?

Why did the FBI break federal protocol to seize control of the NTSB investigation?

Why did 1993 WTC terrorist Ramzi Yusef claim responsibility for downing TWA 800?

Why did Clinton aid Stepanopolous say that 9/11 was "just like TWA 800" ?

In tank fuel pumps spark, by design, while submerged in fuel, by the way (look it up, you'll be amazed...we're all driving cars that have fuel pumps that spark inside our fuel tanks...every day). One reason that gas tanks don't explode is that the spark doesn't touch air. Interestingly enough, most cars and aircraft don't explode when you run the fuel tanks dry, either (look up "stoichiometric ratio" for a first starting point to begin your learning journey as to why).

Furthermore, jets burn kerosene/diesel/JetA...which you can safely burn in a lantern...sparks won't cause it, or its vapors (unless a certain ratio of air is present), to "explode."

Heck, you can pour kerosene or diesel on to a lantern to put the wick out!

Clinton covered up a lot of stuff. And the press covered for him. His scorched earth policy worked as did the "lost" FBI files that were "discovered" in the WH.
