It is to bad the Georgia GOP has not gotten strong enough to excercise a little party discipline.Somone should have explained to Greer and Strickland that this was not their year and they should take one for the team.Now Gary Black will have to spend time and money on a run off that could have been better spent defeating Tommy Irvin.

They always are. And the precincts that lean her way are always the latest ones to come in. Either they are waiting to see how many votes they need to manufacture to win, or the poll workers are just as stupid as the McKinney voters are.

As election results poured in, U.S. Rep. Cynthia McKinney trailed Democratic challenger Henry C. “Hank” Johnson, Jr., but the race for the 4th District appeared headed for a runoff.
With 27 percent of the vote counted, McKinney had 41 percent of the vote to Johnson’s 49 percent.
Many statewide races were as close as expected shortly after polling places in Georgia closed and election results began rolling in Tuesday night.
Some polling places in the metro area opened late and stayed past the normal 7 p.m. closing time.
The last polling place to close in the metro area was at Ocee Elementary in north Fulton. The precinct was one of several ordered to stay open because the precinct started business nearly 90 minutes late Tuesday morning.
Even though Ocee Elementary is located in proposed city of Johns Creek, the subject of one of the ballot questions on Tuesday, turnout was light. Only 171 of the precincts 1,440 voters cast ballots.
In the major statewide races, most were close as the first ballots trickled in.
In the Democratic race for governor, Mark Taylor crept ahead of Cathy Cox. With 60 percent of the vote counted, he had just over the 50 percent of the vote needed to avoid a runoff.
In the other hotly contested statewide race, Casey Cagle was comfortably ahead of Ralph Reed.
Other close races include:
• Jim Martin and Greg Hecht appeared headed for a runoff in the Democratic race for lieutenant governor.
• Karen Handel and Bill Stephens seem to be destined to face each other in a runoff in the Republican race for Secretary of State.
• Gail Buckner led a crowded field of candidates in the Democratic race for Secretary of State.

Why Majette wanted to make a suicidal run for the Senate I'll never know, but as soon as she got in Congress she showed her true colors. A bunch of freepers had heaped praise on the women and called her a conservative Democrat, and she turned out to be just as liberal as McKinney in her voting record, the only difference is that she wasn't a ranting nutcase that embarrasses the Dems the way McKinney does.
I would love to see McKinney win the primary and some disgruntled Dem run a third party bid against her. That would pave the way for GOP nominee Catherine Davis (who, unlike Majette is black AND conservative) to win the seat. I doubt it will ever happen though.
Be careful what you wish for. Illinois had it's own smooth-talking "Denise Majette" lose the the Dem Congressional primary against the "more radical" black panther Bobby Rush in a safe Dem district. The "loser" built up big name ID and used it to make a "comeback" two years later in a Senate bid. The GOP candidate withdrew and the ILGOP imploded. The ex-Congressional candidate won in a cakewalk. His name? Barack Obama.

The race-baiting is yesterday's news.
A lot of conservative Democrats in Alabama became Republicans when it became clear to them that the Democrats didn't represent the best interests of the country. I thought that a Wallace, Jr. victory as a Republican would come to symbolize the end of the Democratic Party's dominance over Alabama politics. A propoganda victory, if you will.
But if he's an opportunist rather than a disillusioned conservative, it's for the best that he lost.

I vocally supported Cain on FR (an intelligent, successful, conservative black buisnessman would be a breathe of fresh air in the Senate), but I am sick of people trashing Isakson as a RINO just because their choice didn't win the primary. Isaskon has now proven to be a guy who votes conservative 90% of the time and goes to the mat for us in the Senate. He's certainly to the right of their hero Zell Miller, who only voted reliably "with us" when he was no longer seeking re-electon.
Arlen Specter is a RINO. Iskason is a conservative Reagan Republican.

I jave wondered about that about media reaction to George Wallace Jr. But I thought Wallace Senior had rehablited himself even with the media it seems. I wasnt sure if there would be baggage
There are currently 45 precincts outstanding in DeKalb, 18 in Gwinnett and 8 in Rockland. McKinney at 46.7% is dangerously close to the 50% she needs to avoid the run-off.
I'm going to make a prediction: Barack Obama will turn out to be the biggest media-puffed-up paper tiger in the history of politics, at least as it goes outside of Illinois.
He will not win in an open Prez primary, and barring a Democratic tsunami that year, he will not be carried in as Veep.
...just figuring out how many it takes to squeeze by...
