Most Americans in Lebanon Are Hezbollah Supporters
debbieschlussel.com ^ | July 18, 2006 | Debbie Schlussel

One thing is lost in all the press coverage of the whining Americans who went to Lebanon of their own accord and now want us to pick up the tab to get them out.

THE MAJORITY OF AMERICANS IN LEBANON ARE HEZBOLLAH SUPPORTERS.

Most of them are Shiite Muslims, many of whom hold dual U.S. and Lebanese citizenship. Many are anchor babies born here to Muslims in the U.S. illegally. Some are illegal aliens who became citizens through rubber-stamping Citizenship and Immigration Services (and its INS predecessor) coupled with political pressure by spineless politicians.

Of the 25,000 American citizens and green-card holders in Lebanon, at least 7,000 are from Dearborn, Michigan, the heart of Islamic America, and especially Shia Islam. These 7,000 are mostly Shi'ite Muslims who openly and strongly support Hezbollah. Ditto for many of the rest of the 25,000 that are there.

Many of the 7,000 plus Detroiters in Lebanon are active in Dearborn's Bint Jbeil cultural center (the Lebanese American Heritage Club also features mostly Hezbollah fans). Bint Jbeil is a Hezbollah-dominated city in the South of Lebanon, a frequent destination of Hezbollah leader Sheikh Hassan Nasrallah, who is very at home there. Bint Jbeil is a frequent source of shellings on Northern Israel.

Bint Jbeil natives now living in our country so strongly support Hezbollah that they got Republican Congressman Joe Knollenberg (and his then top staffer, Paul Welday) and then-U.S. Senator Spencer Abraham to give Hezbollah forces in Southern about $86 million of our tax money, no strings.

Given this information, and the fact that several Shi'ite Muslim Lebanese U.S. citizens from Dearborn have been indicted and/or convicted of laundering money to Hezbollah, is it a good idea to rush to bring 25,000 such persons back to the U.S. at a time when Hezbollah is at war against our strongest U.S. ally? Does the fact, that Hezbollah numerous times--and especially now--has announced veiled and not-so-veiled intentions to attack Americans on U.S. soil, make the case to quickly bring these terror-sympathizing Americans back to U.S. soil? Many are individuals whose activity should have mandated prosecution and jail-time. But they are free because a spineless U.S. Attorney, Stephen Murphy III, and equally weak federal law enforcement chiefs of Michigan FBI and Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) who pander to them.

These are people who hold U.S. citizenship but support a group that murdered over 300 U.S. Marines and civilians, some through torture; a group that is part of the Al-Qaeda network; a group that is training insurgent terrorists against our troops in Iraq and giving them IEDs to blow them up; a group that worked with Qaeda to bomb the Khobar Towers. Americans who support this group are not American. They merely possess the proper paperwork.

And they are very dangerous. One of them, Lola Elzein--a student at the University of Michigan-Dearborn and an officer of the Hezbollah-supporting Arab American PAC--threatened my life and that of my family members because I've written about the group's Detroit-area's extremist Hezbollah sympathizers. Hezbollah's violence has already arrived in America, and we don't need to pay to transport 25,000 of its sympathizers back to our shores.

Wile the government has announced it will charge these individuals for the expensive transport out of Lebanon to Cyprus back to the U.S., they feds say they will accept IOUs for that transport. Think we'll get the money back? Just ask the Katrina aid administrators.

Do you want your tax dollars to subsidize Hezbollah supporters' return to America? Are these the kind of U.S. citizens we badly need back in our country at this time?

Should Hezbollah supporters be transported on a ship named for one of the most heroic events in U.S. history, the U.S.S Iwo Jima? Should U.S. tax dollars fund the charter of commercial ships to transport the rest of these terror-sympathizers?

The instant answer from all freedom-loving Americans to these questions should be a loud "NO."

These people went to Hezbollah-dominated Lebanon of their own accord. And they were safe there because they support the terrorist group. Now, their fortune has changed. Tough.

It is not the responsibility of U.S. taxpayers to rescue terrorist-supporters who voluntarily went to a dangerous area . . . just because their whines are loud and annoying.

We are picking up the tab for this unfortunate rescue. U.S. funds used to rescue terrorist-sympathizers--YOUR TAX DOLLARS AT WORK.

So is America too slow to get these undesirable U.S. citizens out of Lebanon? On the contrary, not slow enough.

Are they asking for debit cards. These days nobody is responsible for their actions. People are utter morons. I am at the point where I am going to just bash someone's head in if they criticize the President one more time.

Also, I didn't say anthing about Marc Rich, I don't know why you're quoting me on him

I wasn't, I only mentioned him because he was the only one in the various cases who was Jewish, though his case pertained to his Spanish citizenship. As an aside, Americans becoming citizens of another nation don't lose their American citizenship through that act. Not necessarily a bad thing, else our draft dodgers of the 60s and 70s would have been home free. No longer an American citizen, no more criminal liability. Of course they got a free ride anyway.

Here are a couple of other Schlussel columns on former Senator and Energy Secretary (and current Arab-interests lobbyist) Spencer Abraham.

http://www.debbieschlussel.com/archives/2005/10/spencer_abraham.html

That first one has a picture of Abraham, who apparently has been raising a bumper crop of chins... ugly fella, even for an Arab.

http://www.politicalusa.com/columnists/schlussel/schlussel_017.htm

The second one has a little more on Abraham, Knollenberg. and USAID money for Hezbollah. Apparently it was a quid pro quo that brought them bribes... I mean, campaign money.

And here a more recent one asks questions about other questionable money that the same goons took. She also bags on Brian Bilbray, the fruit loop filling Duke Cunningham (R-Prison)'s seat... it's from before the election, but Bilbray ran on an anti-illegal-immigration platform and has voted totally open-borders since winning... just as his opponent "You don't need papers to vote" Busby would have done....

http://www.debbieschlussel.com/archives/2006/05/did_hezbollahs.html

Anyway, I'm not sure she's proven that Abraham, Issa, Knollenberg et al are in Hezbollah's pocket... sure, they're crooks, but that separates them from the others in Congress exactly how?

d.o.l.

Can I question their patriotism now?

No you may not. Diversity is good for America. Just pay your tax dollars and don't you dare complain that CNN is squealing because our government said they will have to pay for their own rescue. Shame on us! That is the job of the taxpayer.

If they are visiting for religious reasons, ok fine, taxpayers should pay for rescue. If they are working there, their employer should pay. If they are dual citizens, haha, well, what can I say?

"Lebanon would be the perfect retirement spot for me."

When the artillery and bombs start to fall on your Hezbollah occupied paradise, I have a strange feeling you'd consider relocating.

"Think of all the American citizens who live in places other than the United States. There are tons of them. Ask yourself why you are targeting only Americans who live in Lebanon."

Let's see... perhaps it's due to the fact that it's an Islamofascist stronghold with ties to Syria and Iran? I bet that before Israel was forced to defend itself and take the fight to Hezbollah, you couldn't drag any of those American citizens away from Lebanon. Now they expect an immediate rescue, all on the American taxpayer's dime, of course.

That's the reality. Its the equivalent of importing 25,000 Al Qaeda terrorists into the United States. And oh, we're doing it free of charge cause Condie Rice waived the requirement these "American nationals" ought to pay to return to this country. I don't know about you but this goes beyond stupid. They should be left to remain where they are.

I was describing Lebanon without war. It would me nice to read the WHOLE message before answering out of context. Also, as I mentioned before, most American citizens are on vacation there as they have a lot of family back in Lebanon. Most of the population is not Hezbollah and most tourists don't even see them as they live in their own area. The best analogy to allow you to understand is this: Why do people live within close range of volcanos? Why do people live in California (despite everybody expecting "The BIG One") or Florida (hurricanes)? The answer is they are such wonderful places during the calm that most people don't think that they'll be there when bad things do happen. Even though bad things are expected to happen in the areas mentioned in my analogy, we as Americans still help evacuate people, we still declare areas to be disaster areas, and we do help our fellow citizens get back on their feet. This situation is no different.

I am making my observation based on the fact that I was there. Have you? What do you know about the Lebanese?

And about Lebanese Christians, they are much more devout than the majority of the Christians In Name Only that you find in Europe and in the West in general. Your whole comment sounded extremely ignorant, so I would suggest a bit more research on the subject before you insult people.

Well, you can take it personally if you so desire. ("This is shameful.") You can certainly understand our wariness in taking in dual-citizenship Muslims who may or may not want to destroy our country.

I don't have a problem evacuating them, the payment thing is existing policy, likely to be waived in this case. Look at the numbers in a couple days, most of the 25,000 won't be coming here.

BTW, anchor babies is something we need to address legislatively. There have been a couple bills in the House the last few years that went nowhere.

In the last year or so there were some threads on FR discussing the practice of pregnant women from Islamic countries coming to the US to have their babies. Anchor babies.

These women would come over here (someplace in the Midwest possibly Dearborn) and shortly go to the hospital to give birth.

They paid nothing to the Hospitals. The cost was all born by us, the taxpayers. At about $10,000 a pop.

Possibly many were from Lebanon and they are the majority of the citizens staying there and not wanting to leave.

Name calling hardly enhances your credibility.

The bottom line is that Lebanon has been a very dangerous place for anyone who is a supporter of America and/or Israel, for many years. The dynamics have changed from time to time, but the only way that an "American" could feel secure there, is if their views were known to be supportive of the forces tied closly to Syria and Iran.

You want others to believe that there are 25,000 loyal Americans who have good and noble reasons to take on these risks. Obviously this would be true of some number of them, but I will not belive that it is true of all of them (or even a majority).

You've made some derogatory comments about me and others on this forum, but you should bear in mind that your comments say a lot about you and your motives.

Ditto!
You'd think they'd want to stay and be martyrs for their glorious 'religion', wouldn'tya?
Why the hell do we want to bring terrorist supporters BACK here? Leave them where their hearts are.
Isn't it amazing they all support death- except when it's staring THEM in the face?
