WHAT: Solidarity With Israel Rally
WHEN: Wednesday, July 19, 2006, Noon
WHERE: Freedom Plaza in downtown Washington, DC. (Pennsylvania Avenue, between 13th and 14th streets, NW). Closest Metro station is Metro Center.
WHY: The State of Israel is fighting on two fronts, in Lebanon and Gaza, and under constant rocket attacks into populated civilian centers in cities and towns along its northern border. The local Jewish community will show its unity in support of its brothers and sisters in Israel with a rally that will include Jewish leaders, local elected officials and others. Confirmed speakers include: the Honorable Daniel Ayalon, Israel Ambassador to the United States, U.S. Sen. Sam Brownback (R-Kan.), U.S. Congressman Ben Cardin (D-Md), U.S. Congressman Robert Wexler (D-Fla), and Rev. John Hagee, National Chairman, Christians United for Israel.
I'm watching. Preparing to be shocked.
How do you think FReepers would be responding to a DUmmy whining about the government not getting them out early enough and then complaining that the government won't foot the bill?

Okay, deconstructing the key sentence in this story:
"Unnamed sources", "quoted by...Ma'an", say "Hassan Nasrallah", will say: etc etc etc.
This is hearsay twice removed, with a ghost in the middle of the chain, and is also a prediction of future events.
I'm not going to rule something like this out, but I'm not going to run screaming for the bomb shelter either.
This possibility existed an hour ago, yesterday, last week, and hearing this tenuous threat changes the equation infinitesimally at best.
I understand ScaniaBoy, that you only posted relevent information, and this is a good catch, something that should be posted, but it is also important to see it for exactly what it is, which is potentially a significant threat, and potentially braggadoccio on the levels of promising "The Great Mother of all Battles", and there's no way to tell which.
Hope for the best, plan for the worst.

In 1984 I too had ignored the travel warnings to Haiti for some time. In Feb. the U.S. secretly flew Duvalier to France late at night. Right after that all hell broke lose and a few of us Americans were caught in the middle.30 years of retributions from a brutal regime exploded in a matter of hours. There were locals who would tear apart buildings of concrete with their bare hands they were so pissed.
Over the next two weeks over 5,500 locals, former friends of the Duvalier regime, were killed. They had their heads chopped off with machetes and then were paraded around on sticks through the city, it was a bit unnerving.
I finally got out but only when the airport reopened and the commercial planes began flying again.
I have taken travel warnings seriously ever since.

Jews against Israel, that's something that I don't understand.
That was just usual talk show diplomacy, they way they always end an interview on a good note and thank them. He even slammed him with 'but YOU attacked Israel in 1967!' and how they fired on the settlers. I am amazed at what he said to him. Truly amazed.
