Dan Quayle took time out from participating in the American Century Celebrity Golf Championship in Stateline, Nev., on Friday to attend John Mellencamp's concert only to run into a political statement.
He then made a statement of his own by walking out during Mellencamp's rendition of ``Walk Tall.'' Before launching into the song, Mellencamp told the Harveys casino crowd, in effect, that it was dedicated to everyone hurt by policies of the current Bush administration.

Hey, give danny a break.
He thought he was going to see a Mendelssohn Concertoe.
HEY!!
Mellencamp has been at it for a long time. He was bashing Reagan in the mid 80s.
Hey, Mr Cougar Mellencamp:Shut up and sing.
That cougar was de-fanged a long time ago. His music blows, and he really sucks. I wouldn't cross the street and spit on him if he was on fire. (He just bought a house down the road on Tybee Island (Savannah, Ga.)There goes my neighborhood!
To each his own, one man's hell is another man's heaven...blah, blah, blah.
Wasn't it Mellen Cougarcamp?? I lost track.
I agree. I'm a big fan of the Grateful Dead, and I still go see their bassist, Phil Lesh, in concert. Thankfully, he walks a fine line which makes the show enjoyable for all. Obviously, the majority of the audience is liberal, but he refrains from partisan commentary. He has limited himself to merely encouraging voter participation. I can live with that, although I don't personally believe in encouraging people to vote. I believe if you need to be encouraged to vote, you shouldn't vote. But it's all inclusive and so I can dig it. And since he got a liver transplant, he makes a speech at every show encourage organ donorship. I'm thankful he doesn't get into the gutter and let's everyone enjoy the show. OK, fine, so there's a visible John Kerry sticker on one of the amps.
My favorite part of 'Hurt's so Good' is when he rhymes 'Days' with 'Days'.
Better yet. Shut up and don't sing.
yep - coooooger sux fer sure!
Mellencamp is talanted, he is just an politically liberal moron. Most artistic types are void of rationale thoughts.
I wish I could fit your post in a tagline.
I guess. Hell, I drink boxed wine. But Johnny Cougar really sucks and always has.
No please, don't encourage mellencamp. It should be shut up and don't sing. However, I did like Rocking in the USA.
Really? All I've heard is his music. What's his talent?
Not necessarily, Quale may have attended specifically to call Cougar out after the expected political vomitus. He's really not that dumb, despite the bad PR.
One need no clearer indication of the left wing bias in the media than to contrast the treatment accorded Dan Quayle in 1988 and John Edwards in 2004. Edwards' resume might as well have been written in crayola when you compared it to Quayle's, but Edwards was taken seriously and Dan was viewed as the empty suit pretty boy.
I'm glad he walked out on Melonhead...the boy's a no talent hack.
It's easy to be a liberal when one is very wealthy. All that money protects against the societal screwups liberalism causes. The average working class schmuck has to pay the high taxes from liberal social programs, re-budget the take home pay to factor in high gas prices because liberal environmentalism won't allow this country to drill, explore and refine our own resources and countless other hardships of liberalism.
At his least offensive, "Cougar" wrote some mindless, standard bubblegum. At his most offensive, his recordings could be used to break Gitmo prisoners.
