I do not want this to come off as bragging. And it may not amount to a hill of beans. I walked out of my office a few moments ago to get a soda. This is in Rosslyn, Virginia. I usually get my soda at a place called the Skywalk Cafe located on N. Fort Myer Blvd. Well, I go in and I notice one of the workers - a Hispanic looking guy - wearing a Che t-shirt. I debate myself for a few seconds and finally ask the owner - an Asian man - if that guy works for him. When he says yes, I explain to him who Che is and inform him that I will no longer purchase anything in his store.
I am not worried if I did the right thing or not because the deed is done. I did explain to the owner who Che was. I said to him the guy has the right to wear that shit but I also have the right not to purchase anything in his store. I do wish there was something else I could do and I regret there are many military people who spend their money in there.
Sounds like you did the right thing. Whether it will make a difference in that cafe remains to be seen.
shit = shirt... right?
Good for you--it must be in the air. I was letting folks pass at an entrance the other day, and this couple and their brat were coming through--the brat was high school or even college age and had a Che! t-shirt, and I almost walked right over him. What kind of parent walks around letting their kid wear that in their presence? (NYT subscribers, I guess.)
LOL! Freudian slip? The President is getting reamed in the MSM for using that word. Maybe he meant "shirt" as well.
right - sorry about that.
Another idea: buy a shirt from Che-Mart.com and proudly wear it!
One sample:
I'm laughing at it myself right now. Yeah, I guess it was a slip. You guys are sharp!
You did the right thing.
The Commies are really masters at publicity and image-making.
The only good thing is nobody knows who Che was most of the time.
Good for you! I have decided to do the same.
You racist!!
No just kidding. But of course the PC left would find great offense at what you did. So it's good you did it! :)
The shirt-wearing kid probably doesn't know who Che was or what he did, either. Che was a collectivist, unfeeling monster who got exactly what he deserved.
Slip or not, it was used most appropriately.
If tomorrow the guy is wearing a Ho Chi Minh tee shirt, well dude, let's just say I wouldn't eat or drink anything they'd sell you..
Chris Matthews... he works for MSNBC and said it on camera. Also said it was kind'a chic... for them to do so.
Soda? I hope you asked for some flavoring and sweetener to go with it. Soda water is pretty tasteless by itself.
Or maybe you were going to bake a cake or make some muffins. That's what I use soda for.
Next time ask for some "pop"!
One can wear a Che shirt in America.
One cannot wear a George Bush shirt in Cuba.
One of my favorite former boss's sayings - he used this one to warn about relying on spell-check and not read/reviewing documents - was that "shirt" without an "r" is still a word.
We have a large Hispanic population here in Texas. Due to economics, many of them shop at garage sales, Goodwill, etc. The outcome is grandmas wearing 'Stage Championship Basketball 1978' t-shirts, etc. My point, to them, it's just clothing.
But having said this, you did the right thing and I commend you.
