Little Green Footballs notes one of the New York Times' "memorable photographs," which was taken by Times photographer Joao Silva. Silva was in the room with a Mahdi Army sniper who was trying to kill American soldiers:
The Times' commentary on the photo, by Assistant Managing Editor for Photography Michele McNally:
"Right there with the Mahdi army. Incredible courage."
We have written before about the wire services' use of Iraqi stringers who appear to be members of, or at the least friendly with, terrorist groups. This is a step beyond that, as Silva isn't just an anonymous stringer, but is a famous photographer under contract to the Times. And, as far as I can see from his web site, Silva's entire book, In the Company of God, is shot from the perspective of the insurgents. So he must have been quite comfortable in their company. Jeff Goldstein says:
Incredible courage? Well, far be it for me to question such self-congratulatory enthusiasm, but it seems to me that actual incredible courage would have entailed, say, Joao Silva getting word to US troops, or his bumrushing the sniper and beating him unconscious with a heavy telephoto lens.
Whereas what weve witnessed here is the product of dangerous opportunism in the service of plaudits and cocktail party invites.
It would have required courage to hang out with the Mahdi Army, if there were any likelihood that a member of the Iraqi "insurgency" would regard a representative of the New York Times as an enemy.

That doesn't look at all like the way I would try a long range shot. Is it just me, or was this posed?
I'm thinking "Traitor" and "Liar"!

Well, while millions of Ukrainians were being starved to death in the 1930's, the New York Times reporter, Walter Duranty was there and knew it was mass murder on huge scale, but he reported that things were wonderful, Stalins collectivization of agriculture was a step forward, he wrote, and Stalin was a great leader. The Ukrainians were lucky indeed. For these lies, he received the Pulitzer Prize. The NYT never returned that prize though no one today believes there was any truth in Duranty's reports that white washed genocide. That's the NYT then on the side of evil and today it still is, yet it's considered a "great" newspaper by most Democrats.

"If that photographer had any drop of patriotism in him he would go do this, then once he was in the room with the guy, he kill him."Why? According to a Google search the photographer is Portugese-South African. BTW his email address is: jsilva@aztec.co.za

It appears to be a picture from the New York Times online montage for Joao Silva's book.

So then he's an enemy combatant, and the New York Times employs an enemy combatant.

The photog is not American. He was born in Portugal and lives in South Africa. Why would you expect him to be patriotic to America?

"lionizing the heroism of the leftist swine that call their muckraking journalism."
Are you sure muckraking is the right word here?
I would use something stronger, something that combines two words to make a third that perfectly sums up the NYT.
I humbly submit, Craptacular.

My bad. I didn't check his ethnic origin. However, I think the bigger issue is that the NYT employs him and promotes his photos and book.

Where'd you get your PHd in Missing The Point?
It's about Mendacity pal. "Incredible Courage" is incredibly absent from any part of this little barbeque.
Contemplate the incredible treason, betrayal and rat-like scumminess of the NYT.

I've just come home from church, so I shouldn't probably feel this way. However, I hope Joao Silva lives the rest of his miserable excuse for a life in fear and in shame, as well as self loathing and disgust. He was after fame and fortune getting that picture. How many American soldiers did he witness being killed?
I can't help but wonder what goes through the minds of highly trained combat veterans, the ones with special skills, when they find out about these traitors at the NYT. After all, the oath is to defend against all enemies, foreign AND DOMESTIC. Joao Silva and the NYT have crossed the line.

"Incredible courage" would have come if this treasonous piece of opportunistic filth stuck around to cover the dismemberment of the sniper by American mortar fire, or his bodily disintegration when a frag grenade got tossed into the room.

Where'd you get your PHd in Missing The Point? Where did you get your PHd in reading? From the Rainbow Coalition. All the posters I pinged brought up the patriotism of the photog.

"Right there with the Mahdi army. Incredible courage."
If he is so courageous then how come he doesn't wear a uniform? And when our truly courageous soldiers put a hole in his head you can bet the same photographer will be taking his photo and the caption added by the treasonous NYSlimes will be:
"Another innocent civilian killed as a consequence of the illegal US invasion."
And the now so called "Incredible courage" terrorist will be dumped and abandoned on the street like a piece of garbage without a single after thought as the photographer for the treasonous NYSlimes goes off foraging for his next "memorable photographs" like an insect in search of a turd to drag back to the nest for the rest of the insects to glorify and feed upon.

This is for the Freepers are tired of the NY Slimes endangering our warriors and families and want to do something to stop this bs.
Here is something, we can all do this week to start eliminating the NY Slimes as a threat to our nation's security. We can do it at our computers and do it in less than 1 hour. Besides sending a severe warning to the NY Slimes and the mutual fund companies who buy NY Slimes stock, we will improve our precious investment capital being wasted on NY Slimes stock.
If a few thousand freepers did this simple action this week and a few thousand new freepers, friends and relatives each following week, we will have a terminal impact on the NY Slimes acts of sedition. Please send this how to your blogs, friends, relatives and email lists. This action will serve as a cannon shot across the bows fo the other Dinosaur Liberal Fish Wraps re sedition will not be tolerated any more.
Hammer the NY Slimes today!:
Want to smash the NY Slimes? Check your mutual funds to see if they own NYT, the NY Slimes Stock
How many of us own mutual funds which own NY Slimes stock and even worse have increased their NYT holdings this year. NYT investment by a mutual fund company is a terrible investment re the dollar loss in Stock value the last 2 years. Those investments are an attempt to keep the NY Slimes afloat with our mutual fund $'s. Now it is very evident that the NY Slimes is an agent and abettor of the al Qaeda Serial Killers. The Slimes is endangering the lives of our families, friends, innocent Americans and every warrior of ours. Go to this link to see if your mutual fund owns NYT. http://moneycentral.msn.com/investor/invsub/ownership/ownership.asp When the MS Money stock home page comes up, enter NYT into the search area and hit enter and the following screen will show up re ownership of the NY Slimes stock: The New York Times Company: Ownership Information
- Shares Outstanding 145.00 Mil
- Institutional Ownership (%) 83.40
- Top 10 Institutions (%) 58.60
- Mutual Fund Ownership (%) 42.64
- 5%/Insider Ownership (%) 7.77
- Float (%)
Highlight the Mutual Fund Ownership and hit enter. If thousands of Freepers, whose mutual funds own shares of NY Slimes did the following:
- Sell those mutual funds or trade them for funds not owning NYT.
- Send a letter to the fund managers and the CEO's of the mutual fund company telling them why you sold/transferred their mutual fund owning NY Slimes stock. Then demand to know why they are wasting your precious $'s on a treason/sedition company which is a terrible investment.
- Contact the SEC to investigate why this mutual fund and mutual fund company invested your $'s in one of the worse investments of the past 2 years. Was the investment of yours and others a political bailout of the NY Slimes.
- Send this how to re Mutual Funds with NYT stock to everyone on your email list for a wakeup call.
We might have a lot more impact than trying to boycott companies which sell to the elite liberals of NYC and advertise in the NY Slimes. |

Good morning.
"How did this photographer miss the butchering of the two American POWs?"
How do you know that he did? Are you sure that some Times editor isn't slobbering over those photos right now, trying to figure out how to get them into the morning edition?
