SSDD.

Couipla barrages this AM Port of Haifa's closed.

IDF told residents of Nabatiye to leave their homes, big small town in S Lebanon, map:

http://www.lib.utexas.edu/maps/middle_east_and_asia/lebanon_pol_2002.jpg

That's 24 miles into Injun territory, I'm guessing airstrike, because ground action would affect numerous other localities on the way in, however, if you look at the map from yesterday's e-mail, you will notice a confluence of interest.

Israel Warns of 'Far-Reaching Consequences' for Haifa Rocket Attack

By VOA News

16 July 2006

Israeli air strikes on residential buildings in Beirut early Sunday morning, July 16, 2006 Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert is warning of "far-reaching consequences" after rockets fired by Hezbollah militants in Lebanon killed at least eight people in the Israeli city of Haifa.

Mr. Olmert issued the statement Sunday just moments after at least ten rockets struck Haifa, in northern Israel. The majority of casualties were reported in the area around the city's main railway station.

The Israeli military is now urging all residents of southern Lebanon to leave the area immediately - and is calling on residents in Tel Aviv to be on alert.

...some stuff they got from the Clinton garage sale...

You have a way with words-- out National Security became like unto a rummage sale during Little Big Fraud's reign-

"Come On Down!"

"We got yer Legacy Codes for designing, testing, and maintaining all our Nucular Warheads on aisle one, yer W-88's and assorted MIRV's on aisle two, and behind the Special Surprise Door is..."

Israel will not engage Syria unless Syria intervenes on behalf of Hezbollah. Then all bets are off.

with all due respect i think you are worng. If Israel goes into south lebanon they may take some actions against Syrian military installations to protect their flank, unless there have been behind the scenes discussions wherein Syria has given assurances it won't interfere with a Lebanon invasion

Syria is a military partner wirth Iran, they signed a mutual defense treaty within the last couple months. If you choose to believe that no military transfers have taken place, good luck to you. If you choose to believe that military transfers might have taken place, Iran's TOE becomes the limiting factor in any decision making process.

Hope for the best, plan for the worst.

Patriots are good against a missile the size of a SCUD...not a small missile like a Katushya(sp)

Thank you for the thread; great idea.

Someone has probably already reported this but just in case:

14:04 Israel time

A siren was sounded and another barrage of Katyushas hit Haifa and Nahariya on Sunday afternoon.

It was not yet clear where the rockets landed or whether anyone was wounded.

Patriots were already activated but I believe they are to be used only for the worst case scenario and not these smaller missiles.
CNN seems to be better this morning than FNC.

Big bucks ride on that decision, but this morning's rocket barrage make it necessary. That makes two high dollar actions taken by Israel, closing the port, and calling up reserves.

Anyone willing to bet Israelis will be content to sit back, accept a bleeding financial bottom line, trading rockets and airstrikes, for weeks, as a status quo?

Nope, everybody better hold on to their hats and hope this thing just stays regional

Woke before 6 to help hubby he has bad backache, and shocked to see the news but moreso NOTHING ON NEWS RIGHT NOW... SHEESH...

Hi Elisabeth. I can't do anything about the ME, but I do know about back pain. My wife has a spinal fusion and 4 herniated disks from an accident. She has managed a full recovery following surgery and with the known limitations (can't pick up heavy stuff or ride rough rides) lives a full life.

May I suggest that your husband take an epsom salt bath in hot water, starting around 102 degrees? He'll have to wait gradually until the water cools enough for comfort. After about 20 minutes his muscules will loosen up and unlock slightly. If possible, he should then attempt some light, very light stretching, like sitting on the floor and touching toes, if that will help stretch the area in question. There are more effective strethes, but this is a safe one that I can actually describe. If you have a theraputical massuese availabel today, it'd be ideal to see them. Only someone you trust. Finally, following the massage after the hot bath, an ice pack on the area afflicted for about 20 minutes, especially if massage is applied. the ice pack will help reduce the swelling of the irritated muscles and the cool will provide relief. Then he needs to rest and watch sports.

If your husband is reading this, pal, you owe me a beer for the part about sports. Just kidding folks. This is a regiment I go through for an area in the center of my spine, and the recommended regiment my wife goes through on difficult days. Except for the part about sports.

All the best and I hope he finds relief. It's certainly no fun...

I should add that it works well enough that I'm going out in 5 minutes to begin painting a part of the house before it gets hot. I feel that good, and that's after a period of about 3 years where I don't think I could have done this with the condition of my back. It's been a full restoration and I haven't been this fit in years.

Have you seen this? Ollie North on the mark.

http://www.townhall.com/columnists/OliverNorth/2006/07/14/the_summer_of_our_discontent

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- According to William Shakespeare, King Richard III proclaimed that winter was the season of troubles. But that was 1482 -- and this is 2006. For us, it's a summer of discontent. If one is to believe the so-called mainstream media, compared to the challenges facing George W. Bush, England's last Plantagenet had it easy. History documents that Richard's reign was marked by internal rebellion, treachery, betrayal, external threats and war. The king, abandoned by his feckless friends, met what his detractors describe as a well-deserved end in the bloody battle of Bosworth Field. Those who chronicle current events are now forecasting a similar -- though perhaps less sanguinary -- demise for President Bush. With great glee, the potentates of the press point to a growing list of hot-spots, calamities and crises -- and prognosticate gloom and doom: -- Israel, the only democracy in the Middle East, attacked by Hamas in the south and Hezbollah in the north, is now fighting a two-front war against well-armed, foreign supported terrorists intent on destroying the Jewish state.
