I want to see: "We destroyed Iran and Syria. The reason for the terror sponsors destruction was the part they played in the attack on Israel."

Should have done that FIRST. What is going on with the Israeli Navy?

I think they really thought they could somehow surgically remove Hezbullah without destroying Lebanon's infrastructure.

so the Lebenese military is in cahoots with Hezbollah and Iran?
And the PM of Lebanon offered to defuse tension by sending their army to patrol south Lebanon?

Should have done that FIRST. What is going on with the Israeli Navy?Israel do not have much of a navy. Doesn't matter anyway because they have completely blockaded Lebanon which doesn't even have a navy anyway.

think they really thought they could somehow surgically remove Hezbullah without destroying Lebanon's infrastructure Trouble is, parts of the Lebanese army looks to be working with the Hezbollah. I guess the alternative is to take these facilities over, but Israel has not decided to send in the ground troops yet.

The Israeli military is reacting quickly to unexpected enemy action. The enemy may have trouble coming up with fresh surprises unless their state backers enter the conflict openly.

What is going on with the Israeli Navy?Better question... is the IDF being forced to pull their punches... per orders of Olmert?

Wow, those pesky Lebanese radars are finally gone. Now the dreaded Lebanese air defense (two old guys and a cranky goat) are blind. Impressive! If the problem is Syria, why attack Lebanese civilians? Destroy the terrorists but why destroy Lebanon in the process.

If they fully expect a far bigger opponent to jump into the fight any minute, they would be wise not to commit everything on this skirmish.

Warfare between Middle Eastern nations is a different kind of war than we have seen on the European continent. After shooting off their initial accumulation of munitions the war for most is over. This excepts Israel who gets additional supplies and material from the United States.
The real danger is that if Syria, Lebanon, Jordan and other middle east countries begin to be supported by Red China and Russia the war would escalate and last much longer.
A war involving the major countries would devastate the world economy in short order. The U. S. should warn Red China and Russia (and North korea)) to keep hands off.

The skipper of the frigate was probably following doctrine that the public stance is that the enemy is Hezbollah, not Lebanon
per se, and was clearly operating in the mistaken belief that shore-to-ship rockets would not be a threat.
The navy failed to honour the threat.
Note that Israel's targets have all been components of Hezbollah logistics and command and control.
The attack on the frigate now gives Israeli a reason to take out the shore radars without departing from the public stance.
Regardless of doctrine, there will definitely be a BOI and the skipper of the frigate and those above him in the chain of command will have some tough questions to answer.

If the Lebanese Army could have any significant effect on the operations of Hezbollah, then why were they not already there? This may necessarily become a war were the Muslims wind up getting tossed out on their ear.
Most of the muslims are not indigenous in that area. They attacked and drove off the Christians that used to live in the area. This occured during the Civil war there.

If the problem is Syria, why attack Lebanese civilians? Do you write for Reuters? They are not targeting civilians, and never have. So sorry that the Lebanese were stupid enough to vote in Hezbollah into their legislature, but infrastructure demolition is the price they pay and, despite leaflet dumps attempting to prevent them, civilian casualties are going to happen. (A minor shame, too, because Lebanese girls are strikingly beautiful.)
Strange that you do not hear about Muslims giving such forewarnings. Stranger still that it is Israel's civilian count that is the only one under discussion.

Trouble is, parts of the Lebanese army looks to be working with the Hezbollah Question is do you think, in the current situation, the Lebanese army could disarm the Hezbollah?

And the PM of Lebanon offered to defuse tension by sending their army to patrol south Lebanon? I (and Israel) hope that they concentrate Hezbollah near the border.
