This remains a nation of laws," former Ambassador Joe Wilson said on Friday -- and it also remains a nation of lawsuits, as Wilson demonstrated at a press conference in Washington.

Wilson invited reporters to hear why he and his wife Valerie Plame are suing Vice President Dick Cheney, presidential adviser Karl Rove, and former vice presidential aide Lewis "Scooter" Libby.

The lawsuit, filed in federal court on Thursday, accuses Cheney, Rove and Libby of conspiring to "discredit, punish and seek revenge" against Wilson -- for his criticism of the Bush administration as it built its case for the war in Iraq.

They must not have a good suit, because the trial lawyers aren't lining up to represent them on a contingency basis.

discredit, punish and seek revenge

Is it claimed there is a law against any of those?

Good point. Also,my understanding is that lawyers will sometimes take famous cases or represent famous people for free so as to get some free press.

If somebody's raising a fund to help pay for the defense, I would likely contribute.

"...accuses Cheney, Rove and Libby of conspiring to "discredit...[Wilson]"

No need to conspire...Wilson took care of discrediting himself. His lies were clearly exposed in the Senate Intelligence report (aka Exhibit A).

Mail her a 1/4 of a penny after you've cut it up using a jigsaw with a metal blade,... and that's more than the case is worth.

Tapping the financial resources of the HateBush crowd in an election year? Tragic.

I can't wait for the discovery process to begin, when the defense starts digging and digging and digging into the Wilson-Plame's game.

By the time this is over, Wilson & Plame are going to be wishing they had just chosen to slink off into the shadows, but Joe's insufferable ego just HAD to be fed one more time.

Hey Joe? Why not challenge Vice President Cheney to a gun duel, in the style of Burr and Hamilton?

I'll put my money on Dick. He knows how to handle a gun, and he's probably got experience in shooting barnyard pests until they're graveyard dead.

So to pursue their righteous battle against the forces of eeeeeeeeville, they need you to send in your donations right away. Why am I not surprised? These vermin take advantage of people whose already weak minds have been further eroded by years of irrational Bush hatred in the same way that sleazy televangelists prey on retirees with Alzheimer's. If their intended suckers still had enough sense to think clearly, they'd realize what a con this is. They'll probably raise $5 million to fight a groundless lawsuit that will get throw out of court on day one and pocket $4.9 million change, like the Max Bialystocks of jurisprudence.

Poor Valerie, her life in danger because people might recognize her, as she hustles in every conceivable way to get in front of the cameras of every media whore outlet from the New York Times to Vanity Fair. Was there ever a more appropriate subject for a magazine called "Vanity Fair"?
