I thought this could be a new thread for today. BurbankKarl's thread did well yesterday.
French Prime Minister Dominique de Villepin said on Saturday that "sea and air facilities, both civilian and military" would be made available for French nationals who wish to evacuate from Lebanon.
"We want to take all necessary measures for the security of our nationals there," said Villepin after a crisis meeting with Foreign Minister Philippe Douste-Blazy and Defense Minister Michele Alliot-Marie.
Following a decision by President Jacques Chirac, Villepin said the ministers decided to make available air, sea and land transport to evacuate French nationals in Lebanon, which has been under attack from Israel after Hizbullah militants Wednesday captured two Israeli soldiers in a cross-border raid.
Douste-Blazy said that the foreign ministry would make available vehicles to drive French citizens to the Syrian capital Damascus or Amman in Jordan. Another possibility is a ferry service between Lebanon and Cyprus..
At the same time, the defense ministry has two army transport planes, three helicopters, a frigate and a navy ship ready for a possible evacuation.
The French military is also preparing to make available additional helicopters and "eventually a second navy ship with the very important capacity for hospital services, if that should become necessary," said Alliot-Marie.
According to the foreign ministry, there are currently about 14,000 French citizens in Lebanon and an estimated 5,000 to 6,000 French tourists.(AFP)

They have to. Iran has money and missiles. Syria already is at the mercy of Iran and they have to play along or get blown up.

Why Fox ever hired him, I'll never know.
Are you speaking of civilians or military?
I absolutely detest Wesley Clark. Detest him.
You and about everyone in the military.....he looks like a cadaver....
And...President Bush knows that...and I think that plays into his long term vision for Iraq...
We were REALLY hard on both of those countries in WW11...but, we also stuck with them through starting up new governments...and became their allies.
I am sure that is the way that President Bush wants Iraq to end up...being an ally after defeating the totalitarian government.
This is not making Syrians as good guys, they just aren't the ones instigating this war. They are guilty but they are not the Politburo.
It's Gore's fault...he is the one that invented global warming.
I suppose that's something. Sigh..
Hi TK.....this is all we need right now, isn't it....
