Decision Time: Will this war go nuclear?
www.frontpagemag.com ^ | 7/14/2006 | David Horowitz

Posted on 07/14/2006 3:23:40 PM PDT by elizabethr

Here is the situation: World leaders are lining up, either on the side of the Islamic terrorists (Chirac and Putin) or the side of their victims (the United States and -- somewhat -- Great Britain). The Vatican, which has an unsavory record in regard to the periodic slaughters of the Jews has thrown its moral weight (such as it is these days) onto the scales against the Jews. As the Hizbollah terrorists fire hundreds of rockets into Israeli cities from Lebanon and the Pope condemns Israel's attempts to destroy the rockets aimed at its citizens, Israel's chief of staff is forced to concede that those rockets can reach farther than previously thought, putting more Israelis in danger. Meanwhile, the Syrian terrorist state tells Time magazine that it could destroy Israel's nuclear sites. Hizbollah, Hamas, Iran and Syria occupy areas that are one hundred times the size of Israel and the populations they control are ten times the size of Israel's. Hizbollah and Hamas, and their patron Iran, have sworn to remove Israel from the face of the earth -- in those very words. Iran has defied the world community in asserting its determination to complete its nuclear program. Syria supports Iran, hosts Hamas and is a party to this malignant Islamic crusade. Behind them stand Russia and China and North Korea, and also apparently the international left which is lining up squarely behind the jihadists -- and has been doing so throughout the open preparation of this second holocaust. The left's favorite apostle Noam Chomsky only months ago was embracing Hizbollah's Hitler, Hassan Nasrallah, and his genocidal agendas.

So here is the issue: If you were Israel's prime minister, could you afford to wait until Iran attains nuclear warheads for Hizbollah's missiles? Or can you be sure it hasn't already been supplied such warheads by Russia or China through Iran? Could you afford to wait to see if Syria will supply the chemical and biological weapons it has cached for Saddam Hussein to Hizbollah and Hamas? Or would you proceed to plan B and obliterate them now?

While the Israeli prime minister ponders this question, leftists who are encouraging the forces of genocide -- Hizbollah, Hamas, Syria and Iran -- might want to think how all the present bloodshed and the next terrible decisions that Israel must take to defend itself -- and their consequences -- will lie on their heads.

Probably. Especially if Iran really becomes involved.

I would postulate that Russia likes the problems that Iran is causing for the US, just as China likes the problems that North Korea causes for the US.

So rather than just come out and make their intentions clear, both Russia and China appear to waffle back and forth, which works to extend out the two crises.

Certainly not the Israeli's, hence they are are united.

Okay, for the sake of argument, let's say the Muslims are united in their hatred for Israel. I don't necessarily think that all Muslims hate Israel, but for the sake of this argument, lets pretend they do. Let's say they band together and succeed in defeating Israel and Israel no longer exists. What happens then? How long before the tribal infighting destroys Islam? Weeks? Months? Years?

The majority of Muslims indeed hate Israel, but not all Muslims do. They can't even all agree on what the Koran says. Islam is far, far from being united and IMO it never will unite for any cause, includig Israel, because of deep internal divisions. (thank God)

you could use an analogy here using different Christian sects/denominations. They don't see eye to eye on exactly how the bible is to be interpreted. Yet, do they not unite on several issues even though there are "deep internal divisions"?

I hope the Palestinians or Hezbollah use a dirty bomb. Why? Because then the Israelis can respond with nuclear force without being handcuffed by "world opinion."

Respond with nuclear force against whom?

The Pope comes down on the right side of the unborn, and it is despicable that he comes down on the wrong side of a civilian population under more or less regular missile attack.

I suspect the Pope approaches this issue with a sense of detachment more than anything else. It's kind of ironic is it that we're all hot and bothered about Palestinian suicide bombers and Hezbollah rockets, when the brutal truth is that abortionists in Israel operating under the full protection of the law have probably killed more Israeli Jews in the last 5-6 months than Hezbollah, Hamas, Fatah, etc. have killed in the last 50 years.

Here's an FYI. During WWII, the Vatican knew of the atrocities being carried out by the Nazis and did nothing to stop it. Some clergy actually participated. The pope at the time (Pius the ???) was known as "Hitler's Pope".

Just recently, I believe the Vatican finally apologized for their actions (inactions) during the war.

They should keep their mouths shut on this one, even if they are a sovereign state.

What amazes me is that so many people here rightfully acknowledge that the islam death cult is a tremendous threat to the civilized world, yet cannot stand the thought of Giuliani, a man who has shown his willingness to be very firm in this matter, being our next president.

True, but the difference here is the devout followers of the various Christian sects aren't killing each other over the interpretation of Bible passages and killing isn't seen as an act worthy of an eternal reward. Quite the opposite. I also think that Christians tend to be more modern and open to Capitalism, thus have the notion of bettering themselves and futures of their children. I don't see a lot of that in the Muslim world. Can you imagine a Presbyterian teaching his kid to be a suicide bomber? I can't.

Pope Pius XII (the fact that you didn't know the exact pope leads me to believe that your understanding of facts on this one is pretty slim) has been credited (by prominent Jews at the time) with saving the lives of something like 850,000 Jews.

How many Jews in Europe have ever been credited with saving the lives of 850,000 Jews in the 1930s and 1940s?

There needs to be a thorough cleaning of the world's assorted misfit nations and "leaders".

If it comes to pass, so be it. It will force those who stand on the sidelines to finally commit to principles. Those who don't?........well, time and precious resources are best not wasted on those wobblies.

The Vatican Secretary of State, Cardinal Sodano (who is a lame duck anyway), very clearly condemned the violence on both sides.

Thus suggesting a moral equivalence between Israel and Hezbollah. I've heard this all before, from the Vatican, from Europe, from Russia, etc. This unwillingness to condemn the real evil is, in itself, evil.

"then the complete blame will fall to the Euros and the Russians."

A little late for the blame game. If it goes Nuclear, it goes Nuclear. End of story. New beginning of History.

One thing of note. Nuclear is not so Nuclear anymore.
There is a thing called EMP. It does not kill at 1st, nor does it destroy at 1st, but it wipes our all electric generating capability within view from the point of explosion. It is exploded in the Atmosphere and the size of the detonation determines how high. Over Teheran, it will cause all electrial connections to fry, all toilets to stop, all refrigerators to stop.

In a matter of days, hospitals will be without backup power of any kind. Old and young will die. Then disease becomes rampant with the rotting bodies and food. Communities will die and people will riot killing each other and feeding on the dead.

Much slower than being incinerated, but the results are just as sure.
