Call this tale "Nudie and the Beast." Former bodybuilder Mark DelCore, of Queens, is suing Fire Island officials for the right to have his dog escort him to the beach while he sunbathes nude - which he claims is the only medicine against a mysterious skin disease he contracted after 9/11.
The 1998 Gay Games competitor said doctor's orders make it necessary for him to go au natural at the beach - and on top of that, he needs his spunky rat terrier, Cheekies, by his side because the dog provides "emotional support and comfort."
A cloud of dust engulfed DelCore, who is now on disability, as he walked out of a lower Manhattan gym after the Twin Towers collapsed, and he says he developed a rash over his entire body a few weeks later.
"It looks like measles all over me," DelCore said yesterday about the inexplicable skin condition.
"I require exposure to the sun all over my body," the Forest Hills, Queens, man declared in the suit, filed this week in federal court in Central Islip, L.I.
DelCore, 39, is seeking a change to the Fire Island National Park rules against having pooches other than guide dogs on the beach - particularly in the area where he likes to watch piping plovers, an endangered flock of birds that inhabit the island.
While Fire Island officials say no one has ever complained about DelCore's birthday-suit bird-watching on the clothing-optional stretch of sand, the ex-banker wants to make sure the changes are made and that they stick.
A doctor provided DelCore - who is currently embroiled in a disability dispute with his former bank - with a note identifying Cheekies as a "service dog" that should be permitted the same rights as a guide dog for the blind.

Seriously, why doesn't this fruitcake pack up and move to South Beach. I'm sure they's welcome him with open cheeks down there.
Are exhibitionists now a protected group? Is Cheeks a bonafide guide dog or merely a dude magnet? Is watching the plovers a ruse to hide a less ornithological motive? So many unanswered questions.
