At the invitation of Chancellor Angela Merkel, President Bush traveled to northeastern Germany in advance of his participation in the G-8 Summit in St. Petersburg, Russia. Chancellor Merkel hosted President Bush today in the towns of Stralsund and Trinwillershagen, which are in the Chancellor's electoral constituency. The visit, which took place in what had been communist East Germany, underscores our two nations' commitment to advancing freedom and prosperity, and to strengthening the transatlantic partnership.
The President and the Chancellor took part in a joint press conference in the Straslund Town Hall, and the President also spoke in the historic market square. The First Lady visited a Kinderbibliothek (Children's Library) and toured Straslund City Archives and Baroque library, and attended a luncheon.
The First Couple visited St. Nikolai Church and toured it with Pastor Peter Neumann, and later traveled to the village of Trinwillershagen on the German Baltic Sea for a wild pig barbecue.
In tumultuous times it is reassuring to have a President who stands firm on principle and in strength of conviction and courage. Enjoy your trip to Sanity Island on a MONSTER Dose!
Thank you for the Beautiful Pictures.
or maybe those are of him doing the eating of one, gestures...LOL! either way.
The media wants to hide it, but we see the truth here every time he goes overseas.
Are hog and boar the same or is hog slang. In Britain and I think Germany we often refer to it as hog roast where you have the whole animal on a spit.
Kate, I'm glad you are being so cautious, but also know that not getting the exercise you are used to contributes to stress.
It's so hot here, I've not been walking outside much and instead do aerobics inside in front of the television.
I'll be very glad for you all when these monsters are caught.
PLEASE post them!!
Those pictures in #56 could come from a family barbeque -- a family that has fun together anyway. (Like my family)
They REALLY get along. It's great!
Great pics of Merkel's home area.
How times have changed, last time I was in East German Marktplatzs, I stood next to Russian soldiers.

President Bush looks very comfortable and at ease with all the situations he found himself in. He always shines with sincerity and emotion. It's always such a pleasure to look at! Thank you for the hard posting duty tonight.
